Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a SETA team in Las Cruces, NM. The role covers broad systems engineering and technical advisory responsibilities across multiple mission projects from concepts to deployment and operations.

You will collaborate with government agencies, SPOs, and operations teams to integrate GEOINT space missions into ground-based architectures, while ensuring site processes and baselines meet evolving mission needs. Travel CONUS may be required.

Qualifications

  • US citizen with TS/SCI and polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree with 14+ years, or Master's with 12+ years, or PhD/JD with 9+ years
  • Expertise across full system engineering lifecycle from concept to deployment and maintenance
  • Experience in project management supporting delivery, integration, and transition of mission systems
  • Ability to work independently on multiple government programs and large projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to brief senior government managers
  • Willingness to travel CONUS as needed

Responsibilities

Description

SAIC has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join an elite team providing Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) servicesin Las Cruces, NM. The selected candidate will work multiple mission system projects and tasks—from broad, strategic issues (e.g. policies, concept of operations, etc.) to tactical concerns (e.g., near-term schedules, testing, system integration and transition, etc.) to support vital operational missions.

Responsibilities
  • Support Chief Engineer and government staff to execute systems engineering and integration (SE&I) activities across customer-siteand work collaboratively with other customer organizations across the mission enterprise.
  • Work with SE&I teams to execute site system engineering process; oversee site processes used to document and manage site baseline to accommodate evolving mission needs.
  • Collaborate with System Program Offices (SPO), local operations teams, and other Government Agencies to integrate various GEOINT space missions into a ground-based architecture.
  • Ensure the delivering organization understands site integration needs and processes.
  • Assist in developing standards, processes and procedures, and operations & maintenance plans.
  • Review and evaluate technical documentation (e.g. RFCs, CONOPS, requirements; issues and risks, etc.).
  • Represent government interests at various forums.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to multiple government customers.
  • Serve as liaison between GPOC and internal/external organizational project managers to guide and monitor progress.

Qualifications
Required
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Active TS/SCI with current polygraph.
  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience
  • Expertise in fullsystem engineering life cyclefromconcept, requirements, design & development, to deployment and operational maintenance.
  • Experience with project management supporting the delivery, integration, and transition of mission systems and/or mission applications.
  • Ability to work independently to support multiple government customers and large, complex projects to address organization’s needs throughout system development lifecycle.
  • Must be a self‑starter able to proactively address customer requirements without supervision and to readily define solutions for broad, abstract topics.
  • Must be a polished communicator (written/verbal) with impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate comfort briefing or communicating with senior government managers.
  • Strength in collaborating and coordinating with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder.
Desired
  • Real‑time operations experience as a GEOINT spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator familiar with space operations and policies, ground operations, and system requirements/governance policies.
  • Experience supporting Enterprise test activities, including representing stakeholder interests, ensuring operational requirements are integrated into test planning and execution, and identifying and deconflicting resource constraints.
  • Familiar with application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile development, cloud technologies.
