Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space's NGI team seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to advance missile defense systems in Huntsville, AL. You will participate in defining, decomposing, allocating, and verifying system elements, contributing to architecture and test planning.

You will engage in SRR, PDR, and CDR activities, perform system-level analyses, ensure traceability, and collaborate across disciplines while meeting stringent security and DoD requirements.

The Lockheed Martin Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team is seeking an experienced System Engineer to be part of a team developing missile defense technology that could forever change our ability to deter and respond to adversity.

As a Systems Engineer on NGI, you should have a complete understanding of at least one of the key system subject areas with the opportunity to work in all fields to include systems definition, decomposition, allocation, traceability, maintenance, verification/validation, system integration, analysis, and test.

Responsibilities

Some of the roles and responsibilities you will leverage your expertise and talent to accomplish include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support major program reviews, including SRR, PDR, and CDR
  • Participate in specification and interface development/documentation, and support the development of verification plans
  • You may also have the opportunity to participate in system-level analyses in support of mission planning/execution and tests at various test ranges.

Some travel will be required ~10%.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience and full knowledge of processes in one or more of the following areas:
  • Systems Engineering approach and processes
  • Requirement definition, decomposition, and allocation
  • Interface definition (ICD, IBDs, IDDs)
  • Missile system analyses used in requirement derivation and verification
  • Planning and coordinating hardware and/or software testing for verification
  • System integration
  • Supporting SRR, PDR, CDR
  • Writing specifications and/or formal, peer reviewed technical documents
  • Using DOORS Requirements Management software
  • Modeling with Cameo software
  • At least Interim Secret Clearance required to start work
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain Final DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical/electro-mechanical design
  • Experience with the following:
  • Working with the Missile Defense Agency
  • Presenting at major reviews
  • Hardware/Software Development
  • Missile or Weapon System Development
  • CONOPS or Architecture Development
  • Support to System Level trade studies

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00
