You will be the Systems Engineering Principal for the Aeronautics Business Area which is responsible for advancing cutting‑edge aircraft technology.

As the Systems Engineering Principal (level 6) you will be responsible for driving system safety excellence across complex aeronautics programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Lead system safety analyses for advanced aeronautics programs.
Develop and assess safety requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices in safety engineering.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety considerations early in design.
Conduct risk assessments and present findings to senior leadership.

Further Information About This Opportunity

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN -This position is located at a facility that requiresspecial access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secretclearance. This position is in Fort Worth, TX Discover Fort Worth. aerosystems Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyzes for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience leading a team of system safety practitioners to develop and execute program-level system safety efforts.
  • Business Acumen to coordinate with program management to support program captures, execution, and/or customer engagements.
  • Technical depth to provide subject matter expertise to support Line of Business (LoB) strategy development, training, and long-range objectives.
  • Ability to develop executive communications and briefings to highlight the mission value proposition to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Program management skills to coordinate with management on System Safety budget, schedule, and/or staffing.
Desired Skills
  • Technical expertise to lead a diverse team of system safety practitioners to develop and execute cutting‑edge tools and analysis techniques for evaluating both manned and unmanned aircraft.
  • Executive presence to coordinate with the Director of Aviation Safety and Airworthiness to establish processes and techniques for system safety internally and externally.
  • Technical depth to provide subject matter expertise to support Line of Business (LoB) strategy development and program offices.
  • System Safety and Software Safety expertise to include extensive experience in associated standards to include MIL-STD-882E. SAE ARP-4754, SAE ARP-4761, DO-178C, DO-254.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $158700.00 - $294700.00. At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
