Job summary

Avion Solutions Inc. seeks a Systems Engineer/MBSE to support the Army Aviation Capability Program Executive (CPE) in Huntsville, AL. The role emphasizes applying model-based systems engineering to capture and decompose architectures for next-generation and legacy aircraft fleets.

You will coordinate with contractors and military stakeholders, manage requirements and risks, and lead technical discussions with USG and OEM partners. Travel up to 20% and DoD clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related ABET-accredited program.
• Experience with SysML, UAF, UPDM, and Cameo MBSE tools.
• Progressive engineering experience in aerospace MBSE and systems engineering.
• Knowledge of Army Rotorcraft design, subsystems, and airworthiness processes.
• Experience with SRR, PDR, CDR and risk management.
• Excellent communication and leadership in technical meetings.

Job description

Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Systems Engineer/Model Based System Engineer (MBSE) to supportan Army Aviation Capability Program Executive (CPE). This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Apply your knowledge and proficiency in state-of-the-art Digital Engineering and MBSE tools to capture and decompose operational, functional, and system architectures aligning with CPE Aviation's acquisition and testing strategy for next-generation and legacy aircraft fleet.

• Serve as a key technical resource, coordinate directly with contractors, military stakeholders, and airworthiness authorities to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our next-generation and legacy aircraft fleet.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with systems design decisions regarding requirements, architecture, and integration.

• Ensuring systems meet organizational needs and project goals through collaboration with team members.

• Document and communicate system design, processes, and troubleshooting decisions to various USG and OEM stakeholders.

• Identify, document, and quantify potential risks associated with systems engineering processes and execution by the OEM.

• Monitor model-based design data, identify bottlenecks, and optimize model-based systems for review and collaboration efficiency.

• Navigate a complex series of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) projects.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Background in Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), Unified Profile for DODAF and MODAF (UPDM), Cameo Systems Modeler and/or Cameo Enterprise Architecture or similar model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools.

• Progressive engineering experience in aerospace systems, MBSE, and/or Systems Engineering.

• Strong working knowledge of Army Rotorcraft design, maintenance, systems/subsystems, and military airworthiness qualification processes.

• Demonstrated experience executing systems engineering processes, including system-level reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and technical risk management.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead technical meetings and present complex data to military leadership and OEM contractors.

• Understand the management of complex project usage structures.

• Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.

• Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

• Prior experience working within or directly supporting a DoW CPE or Aviation defense program.

• Familiarity with military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516) and the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) framework.
