Overview

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer – Level 3/4 to join our Digital Engineering team within the Launch Systems business unit in Chandler, AZ. The role focuses on Digital Transformation with responsibilities in User Experience, Documentation Ownership, and Core Systems Engineering.

Position Details

Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance at start: None (ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance required). Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • User Experience
    • Ensure program teams have the tools and support needed to execute Digital Engineering products.
    • Drive intuitive methodology and lead usability studies.
    • Develop new capabilities within the descriptive model to enable program utilization.
    • Coach programs on using the descriptive model and define success metrics.
    • Strive for continuous improvement and efficiencies in all approaches.
    • Scope and align digital engineering capabilities with engineering tasks, develop task‑based templates and navigation diagrams.
    • Collaborate with customers and product owners to study and monitor user experiences.
  • Documentation Owner
    • Lead change/configuration management for documentation created or maintained by the Digital Engineering team.
    • Identify scope of releases and approve all additions or modifications.
    • Review and confirm that all capabilities are well‑formed, documented, and meet template criteria.
    • Perform document releases and update revision history as needed.
  • Core Systems Engineering
    • Utilize the descriptive model to execute core systems engineering functions on business development proposals or as surge support on programs.
    • Manage systems engineering activities, work products, and team dynamics using agile/scrum methodologies.
    • Perform requirement decomposition analyses and support system architecture development.
    • Interface with program management, engineering staff, and external customers.
    • Prepare and present materials at program major milestone meetings.
Basic Qualifications
  • For Level 3:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience.
    • Or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience.
    • Or PhD and 1 year of experience.
    • U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance. Work onsite in Chandler, AZ.
  • For Level 4:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience.
    • Or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience.
    • Or PhD and 4 years of experience.
    • U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance. Work onsite in Chandler, AZ.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Agile Framework, Jira, Confluence.
  • Creating video tutorials (screen recordings).
  • MagicDraw/Cameo Systems Modeler, Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Experience with Multi-Disciplinary Automation & Optimization (MDAO), ModelCenter, DOORS.
  • Proficiency in HTML, Python, and/or JavaScript.
  • Experience teaching or coaching adults.
  • ASEP (Associate Systems Engineering Professional) or CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional) INCOSE Certification.
Salary

Level 3: $98,400 – $147,600. Level 4: $122,800 – $184,200.
