Job description

Position Summary

The Maritime Systems Engineer will be assigned one or more systems that replicate the bridge systems of the ship/boat vehicle to be simulated, or computer systems tasks related to the bridge systems and their integration with other vendors’ products. The bridge systems include communications (radios and ICs), navigation, radar, steering, and other subsystems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering principles to research, analyze, plan, design, develop, code, implement, integrate, and test associated systems.
  • Prepare engineering and technical analysis, reports, design reviews, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform simulation code development, systems integration, design, configuration management, quality assurance testing, and resource management.
  • Act as an engineering team member on assigned projects developing engineering procedures and controls, and participate in problem resolution.
  • Interface with other engineers, system and program contractors, vendors, and government representatives regarding technical aspects of engineering programs/projects.
  • Communicate ongoing activities and results to other engineers, customers, stakeholders, and management positively.
  • Read, write, and maintain new and existing software.
  • Follow established company and industry processes and procedures.
Requirements

Experience Requirements: Entry – 0 to 3 Years; Mid – 4 to 7 Years.

  • Develop code on Linux and Windows systems.
  • Proficiency with C, C++, or C#.
  • Competency in a scripting environment such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Competency in a version control system such as Git or SVN.
  • Strong technical understanding with at least one area of specialization expected.

  • Adapt communication style and messaging to different audiences.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriately.

  • Proficiency in common business software (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Teams/SharePoint).
  • Work with project teams to successfully deliver new or modified functionalities.
  • Show keen attention to detail to deliver solutions that meet business requirements and are operationally supportable.
Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an applicable engineering discipline, or equivalent experience and three years’ experience in related aircraft, flight, or maritime simulation systems.

Employment Requirements

U.S. Citizenship Required: All employees must be United States citizens to comply with government contract and security requirements.

Background Check: Must successfully pass an initial background screening.

Security Clearance: Must obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Work Schedule Flexibility: Overtime and alternate shifts may be required to meet customer schedules, critical deadlines, or program milestones.

Travel Requirements: Will be required to travel domestically and, on occasion, internationally to customer sites or project meetings.

Drug‑Free Workplace: Applicants and employees are subject to pre‑employment and random drug testing in accordance with company policy.

Physical and Work Environment

Must be able to work in small‑confined spaces (simulator cockpits). Typically, employees sit comfortably to do work, interspersed by brief periods of standing, walking, bending, carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals. Work is performed in an office environment consisting of offices and cubicles with low to moderate noise and bright or dim lighting. The work is fast‑paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. High degree of teamwork and cooperation with staff and external customers is required.
