Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Systems Engineer for the JPALS group within Precision Navigation. You will design, test, and validate precision landing equipment, work hands-on in the lab, and contribute to system-level analyses from concept through disposal.

Ideal candidates have a STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, familiarity with GPS, RF architectures, and high-assurance documentation. Onsite role with DoD clearance readiness and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in systems engineering discipline.
• Experience testing GPS functionality.
• Familiarity with radio transceiver design and test methods.
• Experience with high-assurance documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting laboratory failures.
• Experience investigating product defects in avionics/radios.

Responsibilities

• Design brand-new precision approach and landing equipment.
• Perform hands-on testing in a lab environment.
• Create, analyze, and review mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Debug Real Time Operating System software.
• Support system-level analysis across concept to disposal.
• Contribute to system integration, verification, validation, and risk analyses.
• Manage configuration processes and translate requirements into hardware/software specs.
• Decompose customer specs into subsystem requirements and define verification plans.
• Coordinate with cross-functional team to complete assignments on schedule.
