Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an Algorithms Systems Engineer to support the JPALS program. You will run and test modeling and simulation of algorithmic models using MATLAB and Simulink, document equations, and perform data analysis in a lab setting.

The role requires collaboration with a team or independently, with potential coaching responsibilities. Travel up to 10% for field-work, and proactive communication across functions to ensure robust software and system-level

Qualifications

• Proficiency in MATLAB; code optimization and numerical stability.
• Experience with Simulink or equivalent model-based-development tool.
• Experience in the systems engineering discipline.
• Experience in reading and developing algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Test algorithms and models for the JPALS program
• Develop the necessary tools to accomplish sufficient testing
• Work on multiple tasks in a software development environment
• Conduct analysis for system trouble shooting and analysis
• Improve code quality by performing code reviews and good software practice
• Perform test and integration tasks in a lab environment on the real-world product
• Willingness to travel 10% and do field-work
