Job summary

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer at journeyman level to support mission-critical efforts within the DoD ecosystem from their Bedford area site. The role emphasizes systems engineering reviews, technical documentation, and program-level testing to ensure subsystems and overall system performance align with approved specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure performance meets specifications.
• Perform program reviews to evaluate proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure subsystems and system performance.
• Prepare technical documents defining system/subsystem characteristics and prepare management reports and presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action.
• Perform validation of systems, including developing criteria and procedures; analyze results of major engineering systems.
• Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and training to support programs and initiatives including acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment and operations oversight.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications.
• Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications.
• Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles.
• Perform validation of systems, including development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems.
• Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.
• Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force SEAM processes.
• Capable of performing problem/gap definition, trade space analysis, science and technology roadmap analysis, "Set based design" for concept development, Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA) and cost versus capability trade off analysis.
• Capable of implementing Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital Twin techniques across system Lifecycle.
• Apply engineering expertise to systems and subsystems including configuration management, data management, security, and other technical integration functions.
• Manage complex system interfaces, identify, and document interfaces, and assure the effective integration of multiple subsystems.
• Ensure system requirements meet user requirements; utilize user requirements to design, develop, fabricate, test, and evaluate system concepts, perform assessments, and review the system design.
• Perform and/or support capability analyses and COTS/GOTS evaluation, select components, and develop system interfaces to ensure compliance with DoD and commercially accepted standards and requirements.
• Constructs models and simulations of systems to demonstrate the ability to meet user requirements.
• Conducts engineering performance, cost-effectiveness, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessment, and scheduling trade-off studies and document this information in a technical report as directed by the task order.
• Provide aid or guidance as necessary in the accomplishment of other engineering tasks.
• Media Library, Obsolescence, Service Desk Incident Remediation.
• Other duties as assigned

• 5+ years of system/networking experience within a DoD setting

The expected annual salary range: $138k - $150k. Salary is dependent upon the role and associated responsibilities, candidate's experience, work location and qualifications to include education/training, and key skills.
