Integral Federal, Inc. in Tysons, VA is seeking a Systems Engineer III – DevOps & Application Sustainment to operate, maintain, and enhance Army biometric applications deployed in AWS GovCloud.

The role focuses on DevOps automation, CI/CD, troubleshooting, releases, and sustaining mission capabilities. Responsibilities include building CI/CD pipelines, maintaining Jenkins and Git/GitLab, scripting in Python/Bash/PowerShell, performing limited code changes, and supporting cybersecurity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
• Seven (7) years of professional systems engineering experience.
• AWS GovCloud experience is required.
• Experience with software integration or testing, including test plans and scripts (ANSI/NIST ITL and EBTS knowledge).
• Familiarity with biometric systems and DoW/Electronic Biometric standards.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting deployment and sustainment of biometric applications.
• Maintain and enhance Jenkins, Git/GitLab, automation pipelines, deployment processes, and tools.
• Troubleshoot application, platform, interface, configuration, and production issues.
• Analyze logs, metrics, alerts, and system dependencies to determine root cause.
• Develop scripts using Python, Bash, PowerShell, JSON/YAML, or similar languages.
• Perform limited application development to correct defects and sustain interfaces.
• Implement patches, upgrades, maintenance releases, and configuration changes.
• Develop and execute system/regression testing for releases and changes.
• Support COTS/GOTS integration and interoperability.
• Support AWS platform administration and cybersecurity remediation as needed.
• Maintain release documentation and baseline artifacts; participate in reviews.
• Cross-train with cloud/platform and network engineers.

Overview

The Systems Engineer III – DevOps & Application Sustainment supports the operation, maintenance, integration, and continual enhancement of Army biometric applications and supporting AWS GovCloud environments. The engineer focuses on DevOps automation, CI/CD, application/platform troubleshooting, releases, integration, testing, defect correction, and limited software enhancements required to sustain mission capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting deployment and sustainment of biometric applications.


• Maintain and enhance Jenkins, Git/GitLab, automation pipelines, deployment processes, and associated engineering tools.


• Troubleshoot application, platform, interface, configuration, and production issues.


• Analyze logs, metrics, alerts, application behavior, and system dependencies to determine root cause.


• Develop scripts and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, JSON/YAML, or similar technologies.


• Perform limited application development and code changes necessary to correct defects, implement approved enhancements, maintain interfaces, and sustain system functionality.


• Implement approved application patches, upgrades, maintenance releases, and configuration changes.


• Develop and execute system/regression testing associated with releases, patches, infrastructure changes, and defect correction.


• Support COTS/GOTS application integration and interoperability.


• Support AWS platform administration and technical cybersecurity remediation as required.


• Maintain release documentation, test evidence, configuration records, and technical baseline artifacts.


• Participate in CCB/TRB activities, release planning, and technical reviews.


• Cross-train with cloud/platform and network engineers.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline


• Seven (7) years of professional experience in systems engineering


• AWS GovCloud experience.


• Experience with software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts. Understanding of ANSI/NIST ITL and DoW Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS).


• Familiarity with biometric systems. Knowledge of system-of-systems engineering and integration directorate processes.


• Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.


• Secret security clearance.

Preferred:

• Jenkins and CI/CD.


• Git/GitLab.


• Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar scripting.


• AWS/AWS GovCloud.


• Terraform/Ansible.


• Application troubleshooting.


• Linux and Windows.


• REST/API or application-interface troubleshooting.


• Regression/system testing.


• Experience making targeted application bug fixes and enhancements rather than primarily performing greenfield development.


• Grafana or comparable monitoring/metrics tools.

Salary range: $118,000 - $133,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline. Integral Federal considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and/or discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
