Job summary

Integral Federal is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to sustain and operate biometric systems in AWS GovCloud. You will engineer cloud and network infrastructure, automation, and cybersecurity remediation to support mission-critical capabilities.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in systems engineering, AWS GovCloud experience, and a background in CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Python, and security best practices. Security clearance is required and a comprehensive rewards package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Seven (7) years of professional experience in systems engineering.
• AWS GovCloud experience.
• Experience with software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts.
• Familiarity with biometric systems and DoD cybersecurity practices.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AWS GovCloud network infrastructure.
• Configure and sustain VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, firewalls, VPN/IPsec connectivity.
• Configure and support Cisco/firewall technologies and secure network segmentation.
• Troubleshoot connectivity among AWS-hosted services, fielded systems, and Government networks.
• Develop infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash.
• Implement DoD STIG remediation in coordination with the ISSO.
• Support system upgrades, patches, DR, and testing.
• Maintain architecture diagrams and change/release documentation.

Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer – AWS Cloud & Network supports the sustainment and operation of Army biometric systems hosted within AWS GovCloud. The engineer provides cloud and network engineering, secure connectivity, infrastructure troubleshooting, automation, cybersecurity remediation, and technical integration supporting mission‑critical NRTIO and NXGBCC capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AWS GovCloud network infrastructure supporting biometric systems.
• Configure and sustain VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, firewalls, VPN/IPsec connectivity, and related cloud‑network services.
• Configure and support Cisco/firewall technologies and secure network segmentation.
• Troubleshoot connectivity among AWS‑hosted services, fielded systems, SATCOM/network interfaces, Government networks, and external system interfaces.
• Support cloud infrastructure administration, monitoring, logging, performance analysis, and incident resolution.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, or comparable tools.
• Implement technical remediation of STIG, ACAS, IAVA/IAVM, and other cybersecurity findings in coordination with the ISSO.
• Support system upgrades, patches, releases, integration testing, disaster recovery, and technical troubleshooting.
• Maintain network diagrams, architecture documentation, configuration baselines, and change/release documentation.
• Participate in CCB/TRB activities and technical reviews.
• Cross‑train with other BPS Systems Engineers to provide operational continuity.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Seven (7) years of professional experience in systems engineering
• AWS GovCloud experience.
• Experience with software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts. Understanding of ANSI/NIST ITL and DoW Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS).
• Familiarity with biometric systems. Knowledge of system-of-systems engineering and integration directorate processes.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Secret security clearance.

Preferred:

• Cisco FTD/firewall technologies.
• AWS VPC/network architecture.
• VPN/IPsec.
• Routing/switching and network security.
• SATCOM or tactical communications integration.
• Terraform/IaC.
• CloudWatch and AWS logging/monitoring.
• DoD STIG remediation.

Salary range: $136,000 - $151,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline. Integral Federal considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and/or discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
