Job summary

ThayerMahan is seeking a Systems Engineer 2 in Groton, CT to design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and manage complex maritime systems related to domain awareness and acoustic intelligence.

You will collaborate across engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to long-term system improvements while pursuing DoD security clearance and a strong commitment to hands-on prototyping and rigorous documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, master's, or M.S./M.Eng. in Systems Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of professional Systems/Test/Reliability/Quality Engineering experience in robotics/ocean tech/ruggedized field systems.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable with hands-on work including prototyping and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, Maintain, and Improve complex systems for maritime domain awareness and acoustic intelligence collection.
• Track system statuses over the full product lifecycle and manage upgrades/patching.
• Coordinate engineering teams during system development and participate in system test events.
• Develop tools to aid production and reproducibility of systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
