Job summary

City of Minneapolis seeks an experienced IT professional to guide and manage information technology products and software through the life cycle, lead evaluations of new IT services, and serve as a technical lead on enterprise projects.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with project managers on PeopleSoft, Microsoft and other databases, ensure reliable test methods, and deliver high-performance designs within budget and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
• Six years of datacenter experience working on large server systems (50+), with networking, routing and Windows Server experience.
• Equivalency: an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist BIS and other City Departments in guiding and managing IT products and software through the IT life cycle.
• Lead efforts in evaluating and selecting new IT services.
• Act as a validation point for IT solutions that are part of enterprise projects.
• Recommend changes to improve reliability of test methods for software/infrastructure solutions.
• Serve as a technical lead on multiple projects for BIS and outside staff using Windows, Unix, Oracle and SQL.
• Be the go-to person for IT solutions in enterprise projects.
• Develop and deliver high-performance designs meeting business needs within budget and schedule.
• Provide technical expertise on PeopleSoft, Microsoft and other software/databases; mentor staff and manage tasks.
