Job summary

RTX is seeking an intern converting to full-time, to work onsite in Tucson, AZ. You will create high-fidelity simulations for missile design and flight test support, develop modeling solutions, and collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Requires a STEM degree and experience in C/C++, MATLAB or Python, plus modeling/simulation background and an active DoD Secret clearance. Onsite role with strong engineering collaboration and career growth.

The Processing, Guidance & Control (PG&C) Center, within the Systems Engineering Directorate, consists of Signal Processing, Guidance, Navigation and Control as well as Modeling, Simulation Analysis (MSA) disciplines. PG&C delivers key technologies to our effector programs portfolio. The Guidance, Navigation, and Control teams provide aerodynamic and autopilot designs, optimized system motion designs, and state estimation to facilitate mission guidancegoals. The Signal Processing teams extract and exploit signals from bothactiveandpassivesensors to be used for acquiring, detecting, tracking, and classifying objects of interest. The MSA teams areresponsiblefor product-level simulations thathelpus design,develop, verify, and validate our products and capabilities. Our simulations model the components and subsystems that make up our designs, and the world our productsinteractwith.

This position is an onsite rolelocatedin Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

• You will create high fidelity simulations and models for missile design, performance assessment, and flight test support
• You will be responsible for the development and implementation of modeling solutions, and subsequently conduct trade studies and evaluation of system and subsystem performance
• You will work in a team environment, receiving input from the team supervisors and providing guidance and/or direction to other team members
• You will collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, and other performance personnel to perform simulation activities according to the program schedule
• You will work on projects, determine, and develop approaches and solutions, and provide development guidance throughout the product lifecycle from initial concept to fielded product
• You will provide technical expertise for the simulation products of a specific program, and assist Senior Modeling Engineers in the preparation of detailed plans, and may interact with government counterparts as an authority on simulation products

Qualifications You Must Have:

• 0+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date
• Experience applying object-oriented software design in C++, C, and using MATLAB or Python for evaluation of data sets
• Experience developing or simulating physical systems
• Experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, or analysis for existing or proposed engineering solutions
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Leadership experience managing others using applied system engineering principles, experience working on a team and by yourself, interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines and developing and presenting technical briefings
• Experience developing signal processing / GNC algorithms or models for missile applications
• Experience with Control Hardware Design and Test, hardware/software integration, modeling physics and physical systems as related to flight dynamics
• Experience using UNIX/Linux based workstations and using Software Configuration Management tools
• Course work or experience in some of the following fields: radar, signal & image processing, radar and/or EO/IR environment models, digital communications, probability and statistics, linear algebra, estimation theory, optimal control, system architecture, inertial navigation, guidance theory
• Current/Active DoD security clearance
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
