Job summary

State of South Carolina—SCDMV seeks a Systems Engineer I to maintain and enhance DMV systems, including Phoenix/Atlas interfaces and the batch scheduler. You will collaborate with developers, analysts, and network teams to ensure reliable, secure operations.

The role requires a degree in computer science or related field and the ability to work across departments, solving issues and documenting changes for compliance and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in computer system development and modification in on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environments
• Experience with Phoenix/Atlas motor vehicle administration system or similar DMV platforms
• Ability to analyze, design and document enhancements; proactive issue investigation
• Ability to follow technical directions and communicate clearly
• Knowledge of security standards for middleware components and data protection

Responsibilities

• Modify, maintain, and troubleshoot middle-tier application components for DMV business applications
• Serve as technical administrator for AAMVA/UNI interfaces and batch scheduler
• Monitor performance and coordinate with application development, production support, and network/server staff
• Document designs and maintenance of DMV computer systems and Phoenix/Atlas applications
• Implement and maintain performance monitoring tools and reports for DMV systems
• Assist ISIRT with security issues and incident response as needed
• Promote teamwork and provide technical guidance within the team
