At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.

The ideal Systems Engineer candidate has 5+ years of experience with high voltage and/or low voltage electrical power storage, generation, and distribution systems. The ideal candidate has a BS in electrical engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and is a systems engineering guru that understands the critical importance of a clear and unambiguous requirement set. The individual needs to have an in-depth understanding of SAE ARP4754 system development processes and ARP4761 safety assessment processes (or automotive industry equivalents) and needs to have a passion for those activities.

The candidate should be comfortable working with a cross‑functional team of Certification Engineers, Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), Design Engineers, Software Engineers, Electronic Hardware Engineers, Safety Engineers, and other Systems Engineers. The candidate should expect to contribute as a team member to establish, manage, and ensure compliance with the customer, regulatory, aircraft, system, and component‑level requirements. The candidate should be able to provide critical design feedback as it relates to safety and requirements.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Architecting safe, new, and novel electrical power systems while applying ARP4754 system development processes
  • Generation, management, validation, and verification of aircraft, system, and component requirements
  • Performing hands‑on aircraft and system integration in support of development and certification testing
  • Generating certification and qualification documentation (plans, procedures, test reports)
  • Supporting ARP4761 safety analyses
  • Supporting certification processes, generating technical positions, and presenting to both internal and external stakeholders, including DERs and regulatory authorities
  • 3+ years of experience performing SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761, and other aerospace certification processes
  • 3+ years of experience applying RTCA DO‑160G environmental test procedures
  • 3+ years of experience interfacing with DO‑178C software development processes

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Experience with battery systems, high voltage, or power systems either in professional or personal projects
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards for batteries (RTCA DO‑311A, SAE J1772)
  • High‑level electrical circuit design and analysis
  • Experience performing electrical load analyses
  • Knowledge of Part 23, 25, or 27 aircraft and/or rotorcraft regulations
  • Experience working collaboratively with regulators
  • Experience with scripting or other test automation approaches
  • Experience with Polarion or other Application Lifecycle Management software
