Job summary

STAR Financial Bank in Indiana seeks a Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership, guidance to administrators, and hands-on management of IT infrastructure, security, and disaster recovery. You will document configurations, monitor performance, and participate in enterprise projects while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

The role requires strong Microsoft ecosystem skills, solid communication and project-management abilities, and a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

  • Associates or better in Computer Science or related field.
  • Associates or better in Information Technology or related field.
  • Bachelors or better in Computer Science or related field.
  • Bachelors or better in Information Technology or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in data center infrastructure and systems design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and technical oversight for administrators.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Communicate problems and issues to stakeholders including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders.
  • Respond to major incidents and act as a technical leader for restoring failed systems.
  • Provide root cause analysis for major incidents and problem tickets.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Lead IT-specific projects from initiation through closing stages.
  • Follow IT Change Management processes and keep ticket notes updated.

As a Systems Engineer, the essential responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance and technical oversight for administrators.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Communicate problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders.
  • Respond to major incidents and act as a technical leader for restoring failed systems.
  • Provide root cause analysis for major incidents and problem tickets.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Management of system data retention and redundancy.
  • Actively engaged with the disaster recovery planning, preparation, and execution.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure resources for performance, availability, and security.
  • Provide after-hours support and implementation as needed.
  • Research current technology trends, attend workshops, user meetings, and conferences, and complete technical training to identify emerging technology STAR may
  • Evaluate processes to ensure practical application of industry best practices.
  • Provide daily monitoring, maintenance, and administration of assigned IT systems, applications, serves, clients, and network devices.
  • Resolve support incidents escalated by lower support tier and provide technical guidance to lower support tiers.
  • Communicate problems and issues and key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders.
  • Serve as a consultant to line of business managers and other stakeholders on the most efficient use of current applications.
  • Evaluate new client system software, updates to client software, and deploy client software.
  • Maintain and enhance performance of all new and existing systems, databases, and applications across the organization.
  • Participate in Problem Management process.
  • Continued involvement in System Patching as needed.
  • Lead IT-specific projects from the project initiation through project closing stages.
  • Lead assigned IT work for enterprise projects and communicate effectively with project managers.
  • Follow IT Change Management processes for work performed.
  • Consistently update ticket notes for project milestones and support issues.
  • Provide support for assigned tickets, including escalation assistance as needed.
  • Regularly review ticket queue and take ownership of unassigned tickets when needed.
