Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration BU seeks an experienced Systems Engineer – Level 2 for SME support to the Ground-based Missile Defense program, focusing on the GMD Fire Control product. Location on-site at MDIOC, Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

You will integrate and test GFC software/hardware changes, support warfighter exercises, and provide detailed technical analysis and troubleshooting across training environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master’s in STEM and 0-2 years.
• Active Top Secret government clearance required to start; TS/SCI preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and experience in a classified environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct Warfighter training simulation expertise during daily scenario runs.
• Perform log file analysis and root-cause investigation to answer customer questions.
• Identify, investigate, and document GFC anomalies for training.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer – Level 2 to provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to the Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) Program, with a focus on the GMD Fire Control (GFC) product. The position is located on-site at the Missile Defense Integration & Operations Center (MDIOC), Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Co.

Position Overview

The selected Systems Engineer – 2 - GFC Warfighter Training Subject Matter Expert (SME) will integrate and evaluate GFC and simulator HW/SW changes to the training architecture. Will also provide integration and testing support for all applicable warfighter exercise activities including but not limited to: technical planning, system integration, interface connectivity and messaging, element functional and performance assessment and comparison to real-world, GMD/GFC behavior analysis and troubleshooting, analysis of system anomalies, develop/implement/evaluate anomaly response plans and solutions, brief warfighter on the peculiarities of the exercise architecture, ‘simisms,’ and GFC issues for the event.

Essential Functions

• Directly support Warfighter Customers with GFC training simulation behavior expertise during daily training scenario runs
• Perform log file analysis, root cause analysis, and research in order to provide timely responses to customer questions and concerns
• Identify, investigate, and document GFC anomalies
• Develop and integrate new scenarios into the training scenario baseline, in accordance with customer requirements and training objectives
• Candidate must have excellent technical analysis, communication, and teamwork skills as position requires interface with MDA customers, military warfighters, GFC product teams, and multiple MDA contracts and organizations
• Will maintain key technical data and historical files containing behavior and technical implementation information
• Will support flight test and ground test operations as a GMD/GFC system behavior technical analyst

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 0-2 years of experience
• Applicants must have a current, active in-scope U.S. Government issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start, and TS/SCI clearance is preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
• Experience working in a classified environment
• Technical analysis and technical communications experience
• Ability to be proactive, self-starter, eager to learn and assist customer with GMD/GFC
• Ability to work effectively on a small team with multiple external teammates and customers
• Experience working on UNIX/Linux platforms

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
