Job summary

Yoh is seeking a Systems Engineer - Functional Safety Engineer for a role in Allen Park, MI. The position focuses on leading functional safety for vehicle features, developing ISO 26262–compliant safety requirements, and coordinating with hardware and software teams on safety-critical systems.

The candidate will work with V&V teams to create verification plans, participate in prototype integration, and support early test milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in vehicle domains like motion, body controls, infotainment, etc.
• Experience writing safety requirements to ISO 26262 or similar standards.
• Strong systems engineering experience with software/system analysis (FMEA, FTA, DFA, attack trees).
• Experience in safety-critical software development processes.
• Strong fundamentals in systems engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional safety for a subset of vehicle features.
• Develop safety requirements, architecture, and behavior diagrams per ISO 26262.
• Collaborate with V&V teams on verification plans and test milestones.
• Hands-on with product prototypes and designs.
• Support early prototype integration and root-cause analysis; coordinate resources with software, hardware, bring-up, and testing teams.

Systems Engineer - Functional Safety Engineer (BH-399212)

Location Allen Park, United States Sector Engineering Salary $70.00 to $90.00 per hour

Systems Engineer - Functional Safety Engineer

As a functional safety engineer, you will provide analysis of features in Electrical Vehicle (such as cruise control, low beams, etc.), based on analysis you will come up with safety requirements, and work with hardware and software teams to realize those requirements. Work will not involve programming but will require a basic understanding of C and a good understanding of hardware/software systems.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the Functional Safety for a handful of features in the vehicle.
• Develop safety requirements, architecture, and behavior diagrams that align with the ISO 26262 standard.
• Work closely with the V&V teams to develop and execute the Design Verification Plan for respective features & functions.
• Get hands-on with the product and see the designs in action!
• Support early prototype integration & test milestones, including hands-on triage & root cause analysis to further improve requirements & designs. Partner closely with software, hardware, bring-up, & testing teams.
• Work with project management to develop, document, and allocate various teams’ resources for the initiation and implementation of systems & safety processes and improvements.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience
• Experience working in production applications of vehicle domains like vehicle motion, body controls, in-vehicle infotainment, etc.
• Experience writing safety requirements to meet ISO 26262 or similar standards
• Strong record working in the field of system safety as it relates to software design and development.
• Practical experience with systems engineering methods applied to complex software systems, including systematic system or software analysis (e.g. FMEA, FTA, DFA, attack tree analysis)
• Experience in safety-critical software development processes
• Strong systems engineering fundamentals

Estimated Min Rate: $70.00
