Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time System Engineer to support nuclear facility operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

The role acts as the technical authority for assigned facility systems, maintaining configuration baselines, supporting modifications, and ensuring DOE, NNSA, and LANL standards compliance. The position requires a Bachelor's in engineering and experience in regulated facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in DOE/NNSA nuclear facilities or highly regulated environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the system engineer and technical point of contact for assigned facility systems.
  • Maintain system baselines, configuration management documentation, and Master Equipment Lists (MELs).
  • Support facility modifications through design reviews, engineering evaluations, and change control processes.
  • Perform system walkdowns, equipment assessments, and engineering evaluations to monitor system health and performance.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and system analyses supporting facility operations.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance planning and evaluate system performance trends.
  • Review engineering work packages, IWDs, and design documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE, NNSA, LANL Conduct of Engineering, ESM, ASME, and other codes.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Senior engineers will provide technical leadership and mentorship.

Job Summary:

TechSource is seeking a Full-Time System Engineer to support nuclear facility operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The selected candidate will serve as the technical authority for assigned facility systems, maintaining engineering configuration, supporting facility modifications, and ensuring compliance with DOE, NNSA, and LANL engineering requirements. This role works closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and project teams to ensure the safe, reliable operation of mission-critical nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the system engineer and technical point of contact for assigned facility systems.
  • Maintain system technical baselines, configuration management documentation, and Master Equipment Lists (MELs).
  • Support facility modifications through design reviews, engineering evaluations, and change control processes.
  • Perform system walkdowns, equipment assessments, and engineering evaluations to monitor system health and performance.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and system analyses supporting facility operations and maintenance.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance planning and evaluate system performance trends.
  • Review engineering work packages, Integrated Work Documents (IWDs), and design documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE, NNSA, LANL Conduct of Engineering, Engineering Standards Manual (ESM), ASME, and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering, maintenance, and operations organizations to resolve technical issues.
  • Senior-level engineers will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and serve as subject matter experts for complex nuclear facility engineering activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience supporting engineering, maintenance, or operations within DOE, NNSA, nuclear, industrial, or other highly regulated facilities.
  • Knowledge of engineering design, configuration management, and maintenance processes.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting LANL or DOE/NNSA nuclear facilities.
  • Knowledge of LANL Conduct of Engineering, Engineering Standards Manual (ESM), Administrative Procedures (APs), and configuration management.
  • Experience serving as a Pressure Safety Officer (PSO), Electrical Safety Officer (ESO), or similar engineering role.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Travel: This job will be fully on-site in Los Alamos, New Mexico

The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $200,000USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
