Job summary

Straight Edge Technology is seeking a System Administrator to join a dynamic engineering team. The role focuses on building out and maintaining our rapidly expanding infrastructure, with emphasis on reliability, security, and performance.

The ideal candidate has a strong IT background, can communicate complex issues clearly, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. A mix of on-site work and travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject, or 5+ years of experience/training.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one network operating system (LAN/WAN) and email system.
• Extensive knowledge of PC operations and functions.
• Experience with monitoring systems and automation software.
• Experience with Exchange Server, O365, Terminal Services (RDS).
• Networks, Microsoft SQL, Windows Server 2003–2016.

Responsibilities

• Analyze problems from a systems perspective and drive to resolution.
• Provide IT support for Microsoft core applications, Azure, Office 365; support Citrix/VMware environments.
• Support Windows Server, Azure, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and related tech.
• Implement and support disaster recovery solutions.
• Handle network security: WAN/LAN, routers, firewalls, and security.
• Implement remote access: VPN, Remote Desktop, Citrix.
• Document systems reviews and recommendations.
• Travel to customer sites as needed (company vehicle provided).
• Communicate with customers and service team; participate in meetings.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain OS, apps, and management tools.
• Ensure high availability; monitor performance; fix bottlenecks with devs.
• Maintain security, backups, redundancy; provide 2nd/3rd line support.

Essential Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Analyzes problems from a systems perspective, isolates to hardware or software issue, and carries through to resolution.

Provides IT support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications / Azure / Office 365, as well as virtual environments built on Citrix and VMware

Support services for Microsoft-related technologies: Windows Server, Azure, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc.

Implement and support disaster recovery solutions.

Technical services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.

Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN, Remote Desktop / Terminal Services, and Citrix.

System documentation to include system reviews and recommendations.

Travels to customer sites to perform work when appropriate (company vehicle provided).

Maintains familiarity with industry best practices.

Communicate effectively with customers and the Service Team

Actively participates in team and company meetings.

Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools

Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes

Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies

Provide 2nd and 3rd level support

Requirements

BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, or a combination of 5+ years of experience and recent equivalent training (college graduate, technical school graduate or similar

In-depth knowledge of at least one network operating system (LAN and WAN) and email system

Extensive knowledge of all aspects of PC operations and functions

Experience with monitoring systems and automation software

Experience with the following technologies:

Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010, O365 and Terminal Services (RDS)
