Job summary

Green Recruitment Company in Milwaukee, WI, seeks a Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and optimize Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for reliable grid performance. You will collaborate with electrical and software teams to develop system architectures, capture and trace requirements, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and cost targets across PCS, SCADA, EMS, and related subsystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2–3+ years in a Systems Engineering environment.
• Experience with complex electrical, industrial, energy, or automation systems.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage system-level technical requirements across subsystems and customer specs.
• Define and validate system architecture (Battery Systems, PCS, SCADA, EMS, Power Management).
• Develop electrical system designs aligned with U.S. market requirements and standards.
• Create and maintain system specs, interfaces, requirements traceability, and verification matrices.
• Develop high-level system designs, block diagrams, and compliance documentation.
• Establish subsystem requirements and ensure cross-functional integration and validation.
• Perform evaluations and trade-offs to optimize performance, cost, reliability, and scalability.
• Support solution integration activities, system testing, and verification processes.
• Review and approve system-level test procedures and validation results.
• Develop qualification strategies and documentation for technical, customer, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, product development, project management, and operations teams for project success.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by applying best practices and standards.

We are seeking a talented Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and optimization of advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge energy technologies that enable renewable energy integration, improve grid reliability, and accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

The ideal candidate will have a strong systems engineering background, experience with complex electrical systems, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage system-level technical requirements, ensuring proper implementation across all subsystems and compliance with customer specifications.

• Define and validate system architecture, including:

• Battery Systems

• Power Conversion Systems (PCS)

• SCADA Systems

• Energy Management Systems (EMS)

• Power Management Systems

• Develop electrical system designs tailored to U.S. market requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations, quality expectations, and cost targets.

• Create and maintain system specifications, interface definitions, requirements traceability, and verification matrices.

• Develop high-level system designs, block diagrams, architecture models, and compliance documentation.

• Establish subsystem requirements and work with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration and validation.

• Conduct technical evaluations and trade-off analyses to optimize performance, cost, reliability, and scalability.

• Support solution integration activities, system testing, and verification processes.

• Review and approve system-level test procedures and validation results.

• Develop qualification strategies and documentation demonstrating compliance with technical, customer, safety, and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product development, project management, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by applying engineering best practices, lessons learned, and technical standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• 2-3+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering environment.

• Experience working with complex electrical, industrial, energy, or automation systems.

• Strong understanding of systems architecture, requirements management, and system integration principles.

• Proficiency with:

• PLM Systems

• ERP Systems

• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

• Knowledge of Power Conversion Systems (PCS), SCADA, EMS, or grid-connected energy systems.

• Familiarity with utility-scale renewable energy or power generation projects.

• Understanding of systems engineering methodologies, requirements tracking, and validation processes.

• French and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.
