Job summary

ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC, in Colorado Springs, CO, seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to support GMASS. You will perform MBSE modeling, analyze requirements, and coordinate with radar SMEs to ensure accurate, complete system specifications and documentation.

You will lead system requirements reviews, engage with customers on scope and requirements, and guide teams through cybersecurity, test, and sustainment updates across multiple components and layers of the system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with five years of systems engineering experience; or three years with a Master’s; or a PhD.
  • Interim DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jira, and Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MBSE modeling to define system interfaces, requirements and behaviors and support system design.
  • Support requirements analysis and functional allocation to hardware, software, operator and other components within models.
  • Review system engineering documentation with radar SMEs to ensure specifications are accurate and complete in the models.
  • Lead or participate in engineering peer reviews to ensure technical quality and rigor.
  • Lead teams delivering analysis and oversight for cybersecurity, supportability, and new capability updates to DO objectives.
  • Interface with the customer to support scope and requirements definition.
  • Support system requirements reviews and create/update requirement specifications and contractual data deliverables.
  • Generate, review, and update systems engineering documentation with SMEs to ensure accuracy and completeness.

ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC. (AFSS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. AFSS is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Ground Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Service (GMASS) program.

Key Role:
  • Performing system modeling using MBSE tools and techniques to define system interfaces, requirements and behaviors and provide support to systemdesign.
  • Supporting requirements analysis and functional allocation to hardware, software, operator and other segments and components of the system(s) within themodels.
  • Reviewing system engineering documentation and collaborating with radar subject matter experts, to ensure specifications meet system needs and areaccurate, comprehensive, consistent and complete while ingesting appropriate content into the system(s) models.
  • Participating in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure technical quality and engineering rigor as appropriate.
  • Play an active, leading role on one of several teams providing analysis and oversight to the implementation of cybersecurity, supportability and newcapability updates to the various objectives in the DO. Such as and not limited to hardware, software, cybersecurity, test and sustainability functions.
  • Will directly interface and engage in communications with the Customer in support of scope and requirements definition
  • Support system requirements reviews and creating and/or updating requirement specifications and technical documentation in order to meet contractualdelivery of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and Data Accession Lists (DALs).
  • Generate, review, and update systems engineering documentation and collaborate with radar subject matter experts to ensure specifications meet systemneeds and are accurate, comprehensive, consistent, and complete.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with five (5) years of systems engineering experience; or three (3) years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or a PhD.
  • Interim DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS, Jira, and Confluence.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports.
  • Familiarity with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System(PAWS) (BPP) or other ground-based radars such as the Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS).
  • Familiarity or experience in using a discrepancy management tool, such as Jira.
  • Familiarity or experience with Agile software development methodologies, i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe.
