The Systems Engineer is responsible for engineering and operational support across application support, cloud enablement, environment management, platform engineering, digital operations, and basic network operations.
This role involves modernizing, deploying, testing, and supporting applications while ensuring system stability, scalability, and performance.
The individual will work across distributed, multi-tiered platforms and collaborate closely with application development and cloud platform teams.
The position requires the ability to work in dynamic environments, support production workloads, and contribute to innovative technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform engineering and operational support across application support, cloud enablement, environment management, digital operations, platform engineering, and network operations.
- Deploy, modernize, and test applications while ensuring reliability in production environments.
- Collaborate with development and platform teams to deliver stable and scalable runtime environments for business-critical workloads.
- Support highly distributed, multi-tiered systems at scale and ensure environment stability and availability.
- Conduct workflow design, data analysis, and requirements identification and documentation.
- Manage and support cloud technologies including SaaS platforms, AWS, and Azure.
- Work with Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems in hybrid environments.
- Utilize analytics and monitoring tools such as Splunk and DataDog.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and scripting with PowerShell and Python.
- Perform triage, root cause analysis, and problem resolution under pressure.
- Ensure adherence to ITIL practices and Agile methodologies.
- Provide 24x7 support for production environments when required.
- Apply strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Ensure data security and compliance across systems and environments.
- Communicate effectively, share feedback, and collaborate with teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in dynamic work environments with blended onsite and offsite work schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field; master’s degree is a plus.
- 7–8+ years of experience supporting highly distributed, multi-tiered systems.
- Strong experience ensuring stability and availability of technology environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and experience with Agile methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, and cloud-based SaaS solutions.
- Practical knowledge of networking fundamentals (ping, traceroute, DNS).
- Experience with monitoring and analytics platforms such as Splunk or DataDog.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps/SRE practices.
- Proficiency in PowerShell and Python scripting.
- Experience supporting production systems in large-scale environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to perform triage, root cause analysis, and make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
