Job summary

Moog (Santa Barbara, CA) is seeking a Systems Engineer to own the system design of environmentally robust, high-reliability liner and rotary actuators. You will lead an integrated product development team, interpret customer specifications, and work across mechanical, structural, electrical, and thermal domains to finalize preferred approaches.

Requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and at least 3 years in system development and integration.

  • At least 3 years of experience in system development and integration.
  • Experience working in a team environment and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the system design of environmentally robust actuators and actuated systems.
  • Evaluate design using multiple engineering disciplines to develop integrated electromechanical systems.
  • Predict system-level performance and select optimum approaches for applications.
  • Lead an integrated product development team to ensure timely project completion.
  • Interpret customer specifications and requirements.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed on mission requirements.

Moog's Santa Barbara Operations provides sub-systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development, Moog provides expert solutions in:

  • Stabilized Turret Drive Systems
  • Integrated Weapon Systems (full turret from mechanical design to fire control electronics and software)
  • Ammunition Handling
  • Data Control and Distribution
  • Power Management and Distribution
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in engineering
  • 3 years of experience in the system development and integration
  • Experience working in team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to access US export-controlled information
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Desired Qualifications
  • Turret fire control systems design, integration, and test experience
  • MATLAB/Simulink expertise
  • Active DoD Security Clearance
Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the system design of environmentally robust, high reliability liner and rotary actuators.
  • Evaluate the system design using a variety of engineering disciplines to include mechanical, structural dynamics, electrical, thermal and rotary motion leading to development of integrated electromechanical systems and electromechanical motion systems.
  • Based on fundamental engineering principles, predict the system level performance of candidate approaches and select the optimum approach to specific applications.
  • Lead an integrated product development team to insure timely and successful project completion.
  • Understand/interpret customer specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% depending on mission requirement. (historically has been 10%-15%)

Salary Range Transparency

Santa Barbara, CA $120,000.00-$155,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
