Job summary

SyMec LLC seeks a Systems Engineer to own the requirements and architecture baseline for software-intensive defense systems. You will write and trace requirements at system, subsystem, and software levels, and model architectures in SysML.

You will be the technical link between customer stakeholders, software developers, and test engineers, ensuring traceability, verification, and clean interfaces across teams in a DoD context.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Software, CS, or related STEM field.
  • 3–5+ years of systems engineering on DoD or aerospace programs.
  • Experience writing, decomposing, and managing software-intensive requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, DOORS Next, or Jama).
  • Experience developing SysML or UML models in Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody.
  • Experience developing verification approaches and maintaining traceability and VCRMs.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship (required for clearance).

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, write, and maintain system, subsystem, and software requirements that are clear, concise, and verifiable.
  • Decompose and allocate requirements from customer specifications down to hardware and software components.
  • Manage requirements baselines in DOORS/DOORS Next or Jama, with full bidirectional traceability.
  • Develop and maintain system and software architecture models in SysML/UML using Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw.
  • Model system behavior, interfaces, and data flows using use case, activity, sequence, state machine, and block diagrams.
  • Define and document interfaces through Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface requirements specifications.
  • Define verification methods (test, demonstration, analysis, inspection) and maintain the Verification Cross-Reference Matrix (VCRM).
  • Work with test engineers on verification planning; review test procedures and results against requirements.
  • Evaluate requirements changes, perform impact analysis, and support the configuration control board (CCB).
  • Author and maintain systems engineering artifacts, including SRS, SSDD, CONOPS, and SEMP.
  • Prepare and present material at technical reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
  • Work with software teams in Agile environments to connect requirements to features, epics, and user stories.

As a Systems Engineer, you'll own the requirements and architecture baseline for software-intensive defense systems.   • [3–5]+ years of systems engineering experience on DoD or aerospace programs
  • Demonstrated experience writing, decomposing, and managing requirements for software-intensive systems
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, DOORS Next, or Jama)
  • Experience developing SysML or UML models in Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
  • Experience developing verification approaches and maintaining requirements traceability and VCRMs
  • Solid understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and DoD technical review process
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship (required for clearance)

** Compensation**

  • Competitive Salary: $115,000 - $187,000
