Job Summary

Leidos Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a radar development team for a defense customer. Lead a team of seven other systems engineers to develop detailed requirements specifications and other systems engineering artifacts for a radar system. This role requires a strong background in requirements development and may involve Model‑Based Systems Engineering.

Responsibilities

Work with the broader engineering team to develop detailed system, subsystem, and component‑level specifications, Requirements Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Reports, and CONOPS. Interact with MBSE content and collaborate across a matrixed organization. Provide technical leadership and support multiple programs during their lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent degree from an ABET‑accredited university with 6+ years of experience, or an MS with 4+ years.
• Experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro‑mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Ability to perform in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
• Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
• Possess a secret clearance or have the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in System Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university, and/or at least 2‑4 years of direct systems engineering experience.
• Experience with radar development/design efforts.
• Experience with DOORS, JAMA, or other requirements database tools.
• Experience with MagicDraw or other MBSE modeling tools.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers.
• Demonstrated experience accurately estimating engineering effort associated with Systems Engineering tasks.
• Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods.
• Experience supporting one or more DoD programs.
• Object Management Group Certified System Modeler Professional certification.
• INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification (ASEP or CSEP).

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $87,100.00 – $157,450.00. Compensation is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation.
