Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL seeks an Entry-Level Radar Engineer to join a diverse team solving complex sensor and radar challenges. You will develop radar signal processors, tracking algorithms, and advanced sensors in EW environments, with opportunities to deploy new algorithms from literature.

The role emphasizes collaboration with peers to improve performance, latency, and system reliability on defense programs. A DoD Secret clearance and ABET-accredited degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
  • U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
  • Experience in radar modeling, DSP, and field testing of sensor systems.
  • Strong teamwork and fundamentals in MATLAB/Python and C++ on Linux.

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Entry-Level Radar Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Candidate will support advanced technology radar programs including development of radar signal processors, radar tracking algorithms, advanced sensors in EW environments; simulation of radar systems; field-testing of RF sensors and systems; in addition to the deployment of advanced sensor systems.
  • In this role you will work closely with other skilled engineers as they deep-dive into existing algorithms to find areas for improvement in both performance and processing latency.
  • You will find newer algorithms available in literature to investigate and determine if they can provide improvements to the various radar programs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a strong demonstration of the skills listed below will also be considered. Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Must be a resident of Northern Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background. Should be able to apply skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing of sensor systems. Experience working with a team of engineers in solving difficult radar algorithm problems, peer reviewing new algorithms developed internally or obtained from industry. Must have excellent teamwork skills and possess and show good fundamentals in the following: Digital signal processing Tracker algorithms MATLAB / Python Radar Simulation and Modeling. Candidate with additional skills in the following is desired: Electromagnetics Modern C++ development Familiarity with Linux.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience with radar simulation along with a strong background in statistics and probability.

Pay Range: Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
