Job summary

York Space Systems in Denver, CO is seeking an early‑career Systems Engineer to support spacecraft development. You will contribute to requirements development, verification planning, interface definitions, and CONOPS documentation, collaborating with payload partners, subsystem teams, and customers to ensure system‑level alignment.

This on‑site role spans Greenwood Village and Aurora facilities, with collaboration in a SCIF and requires TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 2+ years of systems engineering or spacecraft engineering experience.
• Understanding of the systems engineering V-model, requirements development and verification planning.
• Ability to develop CONOPS, ICDs, verification matrices and system-level artifacts.
• Strong communication and customer interfacing skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Greenwood Village, CO and Aurora, CO; TS/SCI clearance required.

We are seeking a motivated, early career Systems Engineer to support spacecraft development across multiple programs. In this role, you will contribute to core systems engineering activities including requirements development, verification planning, interface definition, and CONOPS documentation. You will work closely with subsystem owners, payload partners, and customers to ensure system-level alignment and successful mission execution.

This role is fully on site in the Denver area, with work performed at both our Greenwood Village, Colorado office and an offsite facility in Aurora, Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Development: Develop, derive, decompose, and maintain system and subsystem requirements. Support allocation, traceability, and closure throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Verification & Validation: Create and maintain verification plans, define verification methods, and support functional and integration testing to demonstrate requirements compliance.
• System Documentation: Own system-level engineering documentation including CONOPS, interface definitions, ICD updates, verification matrices, and system architecture artifacts.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with payload teams, subsystem engineering, software, manufacturing, and test groups to ensure consistency and alignment across the technical baseline.
• Customer Interaction: Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and requirements discussions. Communicate design decisions, requirement flows, and verification status clearly and professionally.
• Issue Resolution: Support trade studies, evaluate design alternatives, investigate discrepancies, and assist in root‑cause analyses during system integration and testing.
• Configuration Control: Maintain system configuration and ensure updates to system documentation match approved changes.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Support broader program execution, documentation needs, and integration activities as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 2+ years of systems engineering or spacecraft engineering experience.
• Understanding of the systems engineering V-model, requirements development, interface definition, and verification planning.
• Ability to develop and maintain CONOPS, ICDs, verification matrices, and other system-level artifacts.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; adept at customer interfacing.
• Proven ability to engage and motivate multidisciplinary teams, while working at least 4 days in office, including greater than 50% of your time in a SCIF.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Willingness to work full-time in our Greenwood Village, CO and Aurora, CO locations.

Preferred Qualification

• Direct experience delivering spacecraft missions across all stages of the program lifecycle.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools or modeling approaches.
• Prior experience supporting government space programs.
