Job description

At Teledyne Controls, we build technologies that transform how aircrafts connect, communicate, and operate. We’re looking for a Systems Engineer who wants to make a real impact—someone who thrives on solving complex problems and shaping the future of aviation.

You’ll join a collaborative team of high‑caliber engineers working at the intersection of hardware, software, and networking to develop next‑generation wireless avionics systems used by commercial aircraft around the world. From early concept and architecture through certification and entry into service, this role offers hands‑on ownership across the full product lifecycle.

Your Contribution

As a Systems Engineer, you will define system architectures and requirements, lead technical trade studies, and guide integration, verification, and validation efforts. You’ll support both advanced R&D initiatives and the evolution of in‑service platforms, including wireless data transfer, onboard data acquisition, and networked avionics systems.

Success in this role requires strong technical depth paired with the ability to collaborate and lead across disciplines. You’ll work closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program leadership to deliver robust, certifiable solutions that perform in real‑world operational environments.

What you’ll do
  • Gain deep technical insight into complex systems across their entire lifecycle—from concept through deployment—by engaging directly with hardware, crafting automation scripts, and designing custom APIs.
  • Design aircraft data management technologies encompassing embedded databases and digital communications to ensure reliable data management and transfer across various aircraft systems.
  • Translate operational requirements into robust system module designs and comprehensive verification strategies that ensure performance and reliability.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot prototype hardware and software to ensure seamless interoperability across subsystems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of field issues by collaborating closely with OEMs and customers to resolve complex system‑level challenges.
  • Develop and execute system‑level test procedures to validate hardware/software functionality and ensure full compliance with technical requirements.
  • Design and implement automated test frameworks to streamline regression testing and improve verification efficiency.
  • Author and maintain technical documentation, including interface control documents, system specifications, and process guides.
  • Support product transition to production, including design validation, manufacturing readiness, and field deployment support.
What you need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with programming languages like Python for developing automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Experience with hands‑on hardware integration, software debugging, and troubleshooting in avionics environments.
  • Understanding of system‑level testing, verification strategies, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to translate operational requirements into robust system designs.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional engineering efforts is preferred.
  • Experience working under ISO 9001 guidelines is preferred.
  • Previous experience in avionics or aerospace systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with wireless and networked avionics systems, including Wi‑Fi and Cellular technologies preferred.
  • Familiarity with database systems preferred.
  • Expertise in communications protocols, networking, protocol analysis (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP), and network architecture design preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees).
What we offer
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off, flexible work options, and tuition reimbursement
  • Career growth, professional development, and wellness resources
  • The opportunity to grow with a world‑leading avionics company specializing in electronics, software, and networking
  • Hands‑on exposure to cutting‑edge R&D, hardware, software, and manufacturing—all under one roof
  • Collaboration with Production and Repair Station teams to support products from development through entry into service
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture that values problem‑solving, creativity, and teamwork
