Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat, a leader in submarine design and construction for the United States Navy, is seeking junior software developers to join the Software Engineering Group (SEG) in Groton, CT. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
• 8-15 years of post-graduate hands-on experience developing java applications and/or responsive web applications.
• Java and/or web-based application development using JavaScript/Typescript.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan and build complex applications (typically using Java and JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Translate requirements, UI/UX designs and high-fidelity prototypes to produce visual elements and desired behavior.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Promote strict code peer review practices as well as testing and validation to ensure high-quality coding standards.
• Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product.
• Enthusiasm for working in a high performing team environment and collaborating with customers and end-users to define scope and design.
• Ability to work patiently within established government processes and timelines.
• Ability to quickly learn complex logistical concepts and adapt design solutions to fit changing needs.
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Awareness of latest development trends and technologies.
• Self-motivated to learn new skills for solving complex/challenging problems.
• Languages: Java, JavaScript/Typescript.
• Databases: Oracle.
• Technologies: Jira, Git, Gradle, IDEs, and web-based frameworks.
