Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat, a leader in submarine design and construction for the United States Navy, is seeking junior software developers to join the Software Engineering Group (SEG) in Groton, CT. You will work with product stakeholders, designers and engineers to define practical applications from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
• 8-15 years of post-graduate hands-on experience developing java applications and/or responsive web applications.
• Java and/or web-based application development using JavaScript/Typescript.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan and build complex applications (typically using Java and JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Translate requirements, UI/UX designs and high-fidelity prototypes to produce visual elements and desired behavior.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Promote strict code peer review practices as well as testing and validation to ensure high-quality coding standards.
• Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product.
• Enthusiasm for working in a high performing team environment and collaborating with customers and end-users to define scope and design.
• Ability to work patiently within established government processes and timelines.
• Ability to quickly learn complex logistical concepts and adapt design solutions to fit changing needs.
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Awareness of latest development trends and technologies.
• Self-motivated to learn new skills for solving complex/challenging problems.
