Job summary

Ford in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Software Quality Assurance leader to drive early defect detection and prevention across automotive software platforms. You will coach teams on best practices, conduct design reviews, and partner with suppliers to improve infotainment, gateways, and telematics quality.

The role requires 10+ years in automotive software engineering with a strong quality focus, plus experience in ISO 26262 and ASPICE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on quality, warranty analysis, or verification & validation.
  • 10+ years of systems and Design and Release engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • 3+ years of proven expertise in software defect detection and prevention methodologies.
  • 3+ years' experience in software design reviews to ensure compliance with architectural and quality standards.
  • 3+ years of a strong background in Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) for software systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in ISO 26262 Functional Safety implementation and assessments.
  • 2+ years' experience with embedded software development expertise, with C/C++, AUTOSAR, or similar technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead early defect detection and prevention strategies across software development.
  • Define methods and strategies for process improvement to enhance software quality and reliability.
  • Conduct software design reviews to ensure compliance with architectural and quality standards.
  • Support Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) efforts to proactively identify and mitigate software risks.
  • Participate in engineering joint reviews and quality reviews to ensure best practices in software development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve software verification and validation processes.
  • Analyze warranty, field, and test data to identify systemic software quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to enhance software quality, focusing on infotainment, connected gateways, and telematics.
  • Coach and train engineering teams on software quality best practices, including ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ASPICE compliance.
  • Contribute to process development and improvement within the software quality organization.
  • Effectively communicate complex software issues to both engineering teams and executive leadership.

You'll have...

  • Experience working with infotainment, connected gateways, or telematics is highly desired.

This position is a salary grade 6-8, and ranges from $74,300-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value. Internal applicants: moving into this role may result in an adjustment to your current compensation based on the posted pay range for this role, taking into consideration your qualifications and other relevant factors.
