Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a senior Software Quality Engineer with extensive automotive experience to lead defect prevention and implement ISO 26262 and ASPICE compliant processes.

You will guide cross-functional teams, perform Failure Mode Analysis, and oversee design reviews to ensure software quality across infotainment, gateways, and telematics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 10+ years in automotive software with focus on quality, warranty analysis or verification & validation.
  • 3+ years of software defect detection and prevention.
  • 3+ years of software design reviews for architectural/quality compliance.
  • 3+ years of Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) for software systems.
  • 2+ years of ISO 26262 Functional Safety implementation/assessments.
  • 2+ years embedded software development with C/C++, AUTOSAR or similar.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE and software process assessments.
  • Experience in DevOps, CI, automated software testing.
  • Understanding Open Source software compliance and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities.
  • Experience with infotainment, connected gateways, or telematics is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in engineering joint reviews and quality reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve verification and validation processes.
  • Analyze warranty, field, and test data to identify systemic quality issues and drive actions.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to enhance software quality for infotainment, gateways, and telematics.
  • Coach teams on software quality best practices including ISO 26262 and ASPICE compliance.
  • Contribute to process development and improvements within the software quality organization.
  • Communicate complex software issues to engineering teams and leadership.

  • Contribute to process development and improvement within the software quality organization.
  • Effectively communicate complex software issues to both engineering teams and executive leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 10 or more years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry, with a strong focus on quality, warranty analysis, or verification & validation.
  • 3+ years of proven expertise in software defect detection and prevention methodologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in software design reviews to ensure compliance with architectural and quality standards.
  • 3+ years of strong background in experience with Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) for software systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in ISO 26262 Functional Safety implementation and assessments.
  • 2+ years of experience with embedded software development expertise, with experience in C/C++, AUTOSAR, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE and software process assessments.
  • Experience in DevOps, continuous integration, and automated software testing.
  • Understanding of open-source software compliance and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and training skills to drive cultural and technical improvements.
  • Experience working with infotainment, connected gateways, or telematics is highly desired.
