From a senior position, and under very limited supervision, functions as a member of various multi-disciplinary teams with complex assignments in Clinical and Business Information Technologies. Demonstrates expert analytical skills and extensive clinical and business knowledge with expertise in one or more of these areas. Independently designs, configures, develops, enhances, and tests complex Information Technology systems using various tools in support of business and clinical operations. Other responsibilities include documentation, training other analysts and super users, and coordination of hardware installation and support. Takes initiative and exercises independent judgment to resolve urgent problems. Acts with broad authority when necessary to resolve emergencies. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.

What you will do

  • Identify and plan for current and future customer requirements. Analyze complex business and technical problems.
  • Design, develop, test, and document complex custom application software or oversee these activities.
  • Proactively review, recommend, and implement data security, integrity, backup, and recovery procedures for entire systems.
  • Respond on a 24/7 on-call basis to application and customer problems; ensure timely and professional resolution of issues within your capacity.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Healthcare, or Business Administration/Management

Experience Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in Computer Programming
  • 7-9 years in Information Technology

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principles, and systems software operations.
  • Ability to relate well with team members.
  • Knowledge of two or more applicable microcomputer and/or mainframe application development tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and manuals to determine correct actions and safety precautions.
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead others, exercising sound judgment and initiative.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Application-specific EPIC Certification(s) required upon hire; internal transfers must obtain within one year.

Supervision Provided by this Position

  • Acts as a resource for junior associates or external consultants, providing guidance and problem resolution.

Physical Demands

  • Subject to call back at all times; must provide own transportation for local and remote travel.
  • Standard office environment with intermittent exposure to noisy equipment.
  • Extended periods of sitting, occasional lifting of equipment up to 25-40 pounds, and other physical activities as described.
