Job Summary

This position reports to the IT Facilities Supervisor and provides day to day support of System Clocks, Televisions and distribution infrastructure, Patient Education, Qmatic, Surveillance Systems, Card Access, Building Security Alarms, Nurse Call, Vocera, Telesitter and Physical Patient Security Systems. This position will be responsible for working daily incident tickets and new service requests; providing technical analysis and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues. This position will exercise initiative, originality, and judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual problems. Incumbent will be responsible to support senior technicians for one or more of the following functions and/or activities related to the Clinical/Business operation process redesign: analyzing and implementing specific processes for these Communications Systems; setting up the software configuration; and supporting the Communication Systems users. This position is responsible for the equipment and Inventory control for these Systems and related hardware throughout UCDHS. Position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with vendors on a regular basis regarding open issues, downtime notifications, change management technology advancement opportunities, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • High School degree or equivalent experience/training
  • 2 to 3 years experience troubleshooting and configuring wired and wireless communication equipment and related computer equipment, including application and operating systems software.
  • 2 + years demonstrating the skills to apply security controls to computer software and hardware.
  • 2 + years demonstrating the ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems these technologies.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and part of a team.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of incident response procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience reading and understanding plans and construction documents to interpret customers' needs and determine if these specifications are within system parameters. Provide alternatives as situations develop.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of System Clocks, Televisions and distribution infrastructure, Patient Education, Qmatic, Surveillance Systems, Card Access, Building Security Alarms, Nurse Call, Telesitter and Physical Patient Security Systems. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and building codes related to the technologies supported
  • Knowledge of technical standards in reference to telecommunications specifications and FCC regulations.
  • Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs
  • Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance
  • Ability to effectively understand complex networks; to manage administrative, clinical and fiscal information; and to comprehend such information to make timely and correct decisions.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, customers and other departments.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.

These systems are located throughout the greater UC Health campus, including the main hospital and off-site clinics.
