Job summary

Athens-Clarke County is seeking an IT Systems Analyst to perform systems and applications analysis, development, implementation, support, and maintenance across county-wide IT needs. The role requires configuring end-user devices, responding to service desk calls, and training end users.

The position calls for a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and multiple years of related experience with strong emphasis on data import for reporting, database, and security management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, information systems geographic information systems (GISA), mathematics, business administration or a related field and three years of experience in one or more of the following areas in a multi-user environment required: Database Administration, Network Management, Desktop Management, Server Management, Virtual Environment Administration, Enterprise E-Mail Administration, Application Development, Security Management, Storage Area Network, GIS Administration, Project Management, and/or Document Management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
• Must have one (1) or more entry-level IT certifications in any of the following: A+, Network+, Project+, Security+, Server+, CYSA+, ArcGIS Desktop Associate, Microsoft Beginner Level (any), Cisco CCST (cybersecurity or networking), or VMWare VCTA-DCV.
• Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in reporting software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Criminal fingerprint background check must indicate eligibility for access to sensitive public safety information such as GCIC records and other confidential departmental data which may reasonably be accessed during execution of IT duties.

Responsibilities

• Conducts systems analysis of manual and automated systems for unified government departments and divisions; review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for further leveraging these systems or migrating to new platforms.
• Evaluates hardware and software based upon current and anticipated user needs and vendor demonstrations.
• Collaborates with management, staff, and internal customers to determine desired technological goals, priorities, and resources. Analyzes operating procedures and develops related operating manuals.
• Designs and implements systems; writes, compiles, changes, and tests new programs and conversions between systems.
• Performs system configurations, installations, and modifications.
• Trains users on hardware and software; demonstrates new systems and assists users with computer related problems.
