Job summary

Vistex is seeking a Systems Administrator to own and optimize our Windows server, virtualization, storage, and backup environments. The role emphasizes reliability, security, and responsive user support in a fast-moving IT landscape.

The ideal candidate will manage VMware vSphere, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and backup solutions while maintaining strong documentation and customer-service orientation. This onsite Chicago-based opportunity offers robust benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field required.
• 3-5 years progressive experience in systems administration, infrastructure, or related IT role.
• Strong experience administering Windows Server operating systems (2019/2022/2025).
• Excellent knowledge of VMware vSphere virtualization.
• Strong understanding of server hardware administration and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Experience with SAN storage and storage allocation; Veeam experience is a plus.
• Experience with Linux administration.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, access management, patching, and hardening.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and perform in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows server infrastructure and core services.
• Administer server hardware, operating systems, and enterprise apps.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and security tools.
• Apply OS updates and security patches per standards.
• Monitor performance, availability, capacity, and health; pre-empt issues.
• Respond to incidents and document troubleshooting steps in the incident system.
• Develop and enforce server configuration standards and procedures.
• Travel to Chicagoland data center for hardware installation and maintenance.
