Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator Senior to support mission critical government IT systems with TS/SCI clearance. You will manage UNIX/Windows environments, lead project teams, and ensure long-term operational readiness across the enterprise.

This role requires deep troubleshooting skills and CISSP/Security X or equivalent credentials. Applicants must hold DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 CE and Azure/Microsoft credentials, with willingness to attain AZ104

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 12+ years of related experience in system administration.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required; US citizenship required.
• Must meet DoD 8570 certification requirements before contract support.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain UNIX and Windows systems across the LAN/WAN.
• Lead and assign project tasks, directing personnel and evaluating performance.
• Ensure long-term system operation requirements are captured in planning.
• Install, configure, and ensure integrity of software and OS.
• Improve reliability and performance through OS enhancements.
• Support IT systems operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Provide Tier 1/2 support and escalate to management as needed.
• Coordinate hardware/software problem resolution and status reporting.
• Support site travel and CI Polygraph requirements as needed.

Meaningful Work and Personal Impact

As a Systems Administrator Senior, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful supporting mission of US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for activities related to system administration.
• Assigns personnel to various projects, directs their activities, and evaluates their work.
• Ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.
• Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software.
• Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.
• Perform systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks. Desktop system management responsibilities involving account monitoring, security, Operating System (OS) installation, and other local area system administration related functions
• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
• Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problem
• Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
• Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems
• Install/load operating system and application software
• Isolate and resolve of hardware and software problems involving the applications, the operating system, the hardware, the communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof
• Troubleshoot, maintain integrity and configure network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
• Integrate new technologies into new and existing systems including the transition and migration of corporate systems

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Education: Bachelor’s degree
• Experience: 12+ years of related experience
• Technical skills:
  • Ability to provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems
  • Be able to provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
• Security clearance level: TS/SCI
• US citizenship required
• Required Certification(s):
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract
  • IAT III 8570/8140 Baseline Certification CISSP, Security X or equivalent
  • Computing Env: Computing Env: MSCA 2016, Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent (Must obtain the full AZ104 Microsoft Azure Administrator within 180 days from start date.)
• Role Requirements
  • On customer site daily support
  • Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
  • Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity
  • Travel may be required to support the mission
