Job summary

Caelum Research Corporation seeks a Systems Administrator IV at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, supporting Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) IT operations.

The role requires DoD Secret clearance, a Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience, VMware expertise, scripting, and strong Windows/Linux administration. You will maintain high-availability environments, automation, and security compliance on enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree plus 10 years IT experience; education may substitute for some experience.
• Experience in VMware systems administration and troubleshooting.
• Ability to resolve complex configuration management and basic networking issues.
• Experience with identity management, records retention, and destruction policies.
• Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Perl.
• Experience with high-availability, clustered systems and load balancing.
• Experience with Windows Server and Linux operating systems and tools.
• Desirable knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Relevant IT discipline degree or certification.
• Security+ or DoD 8570.1 IAT II certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs Windows Server systems administration including troubleshooting, monitoring, and support.
• Windows event and performance monitoring; management of hosted systems software platforms.
• Resolve configuration management, resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
• Resolve security issues including identity management, records retention, and destruction policies.
• Uses and writes OS commands and scripts; manages disk configurations and RAID.
• May support performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, administration of Microsoft Servers, clustering and load balancing.
• Manages production environments using automated install/build/deploy/config management and virtualization.

POSITION:Systems Administrator IV

LOCATION: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

SCOPE:Serves as a Systems Administrator on a major IT support contract for the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) at the Aberdeen Test Center (ATC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs Windows Server systems administration including troubleshooting, monitoring, and support;
• Windows event and performance monitoring; and management of hosted systems software platforms.
• Resolves basic and intermediate issues associated with system configuration management, resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
• Resolves security issues including identity management, records retention, and implements destruction policies.
• Uses and write operating system commands and scripts, manages disk configurations, maintains hardware and software RAID 1-N, performs migration, backup and recovery using scripting languages, such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl.
• May support performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, administration of Microsoft Servers, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems, and load balancing.
• Manages production environments using automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years’ experience; experience which may include education/specialized training/certifications may be substituted for education.
• Experience in VMWare systems administration including troubleshooting and monitoring
• Experience in resolving complex issues associated with configuration management. resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
• Experience in resolving security issues, identity management, records retention, and adhering to destruction policies
• Experience using and writing operating system commands and scripts, and scripting languages, including one or more of Bash, Powershell, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl.
• Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, administration of Microsoft Servers, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems, advanced web technologies such as ASP.NET, pipeline, load balancing, etc.; managing production environments using automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers
• Experience managing or working with Windows Server and Linux Operating systems and associated configuration tools is desirable.
• Experience and/or working knowledge of Kubernetes is highly desirable.
• Relevant education or certification must be in an IT discipline related to the assigned program area (e.g Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer or Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Forensics/Security, etc.).
• Must possess current Security+ (or equivalent DOD Directive 8570.1 IAT II)
