Job summary

APM is seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to protect critical systems, build solutions, implement software and hardware, provide training, and help shape IT strategy. The role requires hands-on leadership of projects and delivering results in a technology-driven nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or 5+ years of proven IT experience.
  • Experience with programming languages, operating systems, and enterprise backup and recovery.
  • Experience in cloud computing and integration projects.
  • VMware virtualization and AD experience; Microsoft certifications preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on-site in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server administration tasks (user/group, security permissions, group policies) and monitor resources.
  • Monitor data-center health and assist in provisioning and maintaining new servers.
  • Maintain internal infrastructure including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, and network segments.
  • Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Perform routine audits of all systems including backups.

Job Type: Full Time, Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm

Location: Philadelphia, PA (On Site)

Our mission is to help families achieve their greatest potential by offering them services such as Foster Care & Adoption, Child Welfare, Early Childhood Education, Behavioral Health and D&A Treatment, Housing, Economic Development, and Community Services.

SUMMARY

If your purpose aligns with our mission, we are currently looking for an experienced IT Systems Administrator who is eager to further develop their technological skills. This person will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. The IT Systems Administrator will take on challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and be responsible for results. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying skills and expertise to a technology-based business model that creates real-world solutions.

Objectives:
  • Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
  • Take responsibility for projects and solutions.
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems.
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes.
  • Work with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
  • Monitor data-center health using existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers when needed.
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
  • Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
  • Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT field preferred but will accept 5+ years' experience with proven work history
  • Proven success in an IT role
  • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, AD and VMware virtualization
  • Experience in cloud computing and integration projects
  • Expertise in analyzing and repairing large-scale distributed systems; creating volumes and assigning them to servers
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred
  • VMware experience
  • Networking Experience
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds
