Description
Chainbridge Solutions is seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team supporting secure, high-availability systems for federal and military clients. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing cloud-based Linux environments, ensuring system stability, performance, and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support deployments, troubleshoot issues, and drive infrastructure improvements using tools like Ansible, Docker, and AWS-native services.
This position requires a strong foundation in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, experience supporting Java-based applications, and a proven ability to work independently while managing patching, monitoring, and automation across secure environments. Your day-to-day will include log analysis, incident response, vulnerability remediation, and close collaboration with client security teams to ensure STIG and DoD/FedRAMP compliance.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, upgrade, and monitor Linux-based systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Implement and refine alerts, dashboards, and monitoring tools to detect and resolve issues proactively.
- Analyze logs, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to incident response and recovery planning.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to improve system stability.
- Collaborate with application engineers, developers, DBAs, and cloud architects to support deployments and infrastructure improvements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships; proactively manage expectations, ensure client satisfaction, and address technical concerns.
- Explore existing environments, document findings, and implement enhancements independently.
- Manage patching, service configuration, and compliance with STIG, CIS, and DoD/FedRAMP standards.
- Review security scan results (e.g., IAVAs, ACAS), assess risk, and work closely with client security teams to remediate findings.
- Track vulnerabilities and remediations in JIRA, ensuring timely resolution and audit readiness.
- Support middleware and cloud configurations, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
- Manage documentation and automation repositories in JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Provide best-practice support for secure, high-availability government and military systems.
- Support off-hours releases and ensure smooth deployment of application updates.
- Continuously expand cloud expertise through hands-on work and certification.
Experience and Skill Requirements
- U.S. Citizen eligible for a Public Trust Clearance
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification
- 6+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years expert-level Linux administration (RHEL)
- 3+ years supporting Java apps with Tomcat and HTTP Server (deployment, scripting, logs, troubleshooting)
- 1+ years with Ansible for automation and configuration management
- Strong scripting and log analysis skills across Linux and cloud environments
- Excellent communication skills for documenting, troubleshooting, and client interaction
- Experience in secure production environments with Linux hardening and patch management
- Certifications in systems/cloud administration or security (AWS preferred)
- Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker)
- Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks proactively
- Strong documentation and client-facing collaboration skills
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and cybersecurity fundamentals (hardening, patching, analysis)

Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of systems administration, with 2+ years in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Experience with autoscaling, monitoring, and high availability in cloud platforms
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager)
