Job summary

BCT LLC seeks a System Administrator III to join our Maryland team supporting a large Linux cluster. The role requires active TS/SCI with POLY, with duties spanning installation, monitoring, and problem resolution of compute, network, memory, storage, and security facets.

Responsibilities include Tier 1/2 support, system configuration, capacity planning, and collaboration with agency management. Bachelor's degree required; 15 years of SysAdmin exp; salary range provided.

Qualifications

• 15 years of Systems Administrator experience in large contracts.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline required; additional experience can substitute.
• Strong Linux experience, especially large-scale clusters.
• Experience with IT security compliance policies (STE/STN).

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support and incident resolution.
• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain Linux systems and related hardware.
• Manage daily operations of compute, network, memory, and storage subsystems.
• Configure UNIX/Windows OS, load software, and optimize reliability.
• Utilize automation tools (SaltStack, Ansible) for IaC.
• Provide status updates to management and internal customers.
• Performance monitoring and capacity planning of systems.

About the job:

BCT LLC is seeking a System Administrator III to join our team. The ideal candidate must possess an active TS/SCI with POLY. The System Administrator shall be responsible for providing support for a large-scale Linux system including installation of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software, day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all the compute, network, memory, and storage system components. In addition, the System Administrator shall maintain the system security integrity and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

In addition, you will:

Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems

Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems

Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems

Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems

Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems

Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.

Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers

Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning

Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems

Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets

Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process

Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance

Support the design of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware

Possess a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration

Required Experience:

Experience using the Linux CLI

Experience in performing System Administration including installation, configuration, and support of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a large-scale Linux cluster environment

General technical knowledge regarding compute, network, memory, and storage system components

Experience with Red Hat Satellite systems management solution

Familiarity using Splunk for ingesting, indexing, searching, monitoring, and analyzing big data

Experience with the sustainment and support of large Linux clusters including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution

Experience configuring and sustaining VMware ESXi/Virtualization environments

Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools such as SaltStack and Ansible

Experience with corporate STE/STN security compliance policies and procedures

Experience using system monitoring tools such as HPE One View and Nagios

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker

Desired Experience:

Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes

Experience with distributed files systems such as Weka, CEPH, GPFS, and HDFS

Experience with the Atlassian Suite of Tools such as Jira and Confluence

Required Education:

Fifteen (15) years' experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional Systems Administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Salary Range:

$160,800-212,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, BCT-LLC considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
