Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Systems Administrator Systems II in Lakewood, CO to support Linux/Windows environments, VMs, and storage/backup systems. You will troubleshoot, patch, and manage changes while coordinating with Cyber Security and vendor teams.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen per job requirement.
• 2–4 years of Systems Administrator experience on Linux and Windows.
• Experience in multi‑platform environments following SOPs and guidance.
• Strong verbal and written communication, problem solving.
• Understanding of network protocols, cybersecurity fundamentals, and performance.
• Experience with system lifecycle management, patching, and routine updates.
• Familiarity with automation or scripting tools (Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
• Experience with cloud services or virtualization (VMware, Azure, AWS).
• Ability to work independently and with a team; document configurations and processes.

Responsibilities

• Support operating systems, VMs, storage appliances, and backup environments.
• Troubleshoot issues, assist in change management, apply patches, and perform routine maintenance.
• Participate in backup/restoration activities and incident response coordination.
• Assist with on‑call support and maintain system documentation and inventory.
• Ensure systems meet security requirements in collaboration with Cyber Security Specialists.
• Follow change management procedures for hardware and software updates.
• Assist with hardware troubleshooting and vendor coordination.
• Support deployment activities and evaluate new server hardware/software needs.
