Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate._______________________________________________________________________________The Systems Administrator I, under general direction/supervision, performs routine systems administration support functions and provides technical support and systems administration services for faculty, staff, administrators, and designated instructional spaces within the School of Public and Allied Health.This position is responsible for maintaining computing systems, supporting Apple and Dell hardware, administering software and user accounts, troubleshooting technology issues, supporting audiovisual (AV) equipment, supporting eSports technology and facilities, and assisting with network, server, and cybersecurity initiatives. The incumbent serves as the primary technology resource for the School, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of computer systems, classroom technology, conference room equipment, eSports gaming systems, and related IT infrastructure. This role requires strong customer service skills and the ability to support various technology environments in an academic setting.The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.Responsibilities:End-User Technology Support:Provide Tier I and Tier II technical support to faculty, staff, and administrators.Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, printer, and connectivity issues.Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers.Create and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access rights.Assist with workstation deployment, upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives.Provide support for remote and hybrid work technologies.Maintain accurate records of service requests, resolutions, and technology inventory.Apple and Dell Hardware Support:Configure, deploy, and support Apple MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini, iPad, and iPhone devices.Support Dell desktops, laptops, docking stations, monitors, and peripherals.Assist with operating system installations, updates, and device management.Coordinate warranty repairs and vendor-supported maintenance services.Recommend replacement schedules and hardware standards.Audio-Visual (AV) and Classroom Technology Support:Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot AV equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces.Support projectors, interactive displays, digital signage, video conferencing systems, microphones, speakers, cameras, and presentation technologies.Provide technical support for meetings, webinars, training sessions, and special events.Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance of AV systems.Coordinate repair and replacement of AV equipment as needed.eSports Support:Provide technical support for eSports gaming systems, peripherals, streaming/broadcast equipment, and related software, ensuring reliable operation of eSports labs and competition spaces.Assist with the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of gaming hardware and networking to support practices, tournaments, and special eSports events.Systems Administration and Infrastructure Support:Install, upgrade, and configure server hardware and software; assist with the design and implementation of server systems.Assist with installation and configuration of network file servers and hardware; complete server testing and application.Conduct basic server performance analyses and tuning; monitor system performance to identify potential operational issues.·Create programs for automating system administration.Analyze system logs and identify potential issues; troubleshoot and repair hardware, software, and configuration problems; assist with troubleshooting network problems.Support file shares, cloud services, storage systems, and backup solutions.Assist with technology deployments, system integration testing, and upgrades.Document server support methods, procedures, and configurations.Information Security and Compliance:Assist in implementing cybersecurity policies, endpoint security controls, and patch management processes.Monitor and report security vulnerabilities and technology risks.Monitor and maintain system security; provide backup, protection, and recovery support for client data.Support disaster recovery and business continuity efforts.Ensure compliance with university, state, federal, and cybersecurity standards.Technology Planning and Administrative Support:Assist leadership with technology assessments and recommendations.Assist with recommendations, specifications, and plans for server hardware and software purchases.Participate in hardware and software procurement activities.Maintain technology inventory records and asset tracking.Research and evaluate emerging technologies to determine their applicability to clients' needs and to support teaching, research, and administrative operations.Other Duties as Assigned:Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the School of Public and Allied Health, Prairie View A&M University, and university technology operations.Participate in cross-functional initiatives, process improvement efforts, knowledge management activities, and technology-related projects consistent with the position's purpose and classification.Require Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Two years of related experience.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.Knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting, client relations, formulating and contributing ideas, and the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL).Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Special Requirements:Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year.
