Job summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Navy NETTN Systems Administrator in Virginia Beach to maintain enterprise-wide modeling and simulation services, ensure cybersecurity protection, and support DoD STIG compliance. The role requires a Secret security clearance and strong Windows Server administration experience.

You will work with stakeholders to manage accounts, patch systems, configure GPOs, and monitor performance in a multi-user environment, using VMware and VDI technologies.

Qualifications

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years with Masters; or 10 years with HS diploma.
  • Security+ or equivalent certification required.
  • Experience with Windows desktop/server operating systems and patching.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; DoD STIG familiarity.
  • Strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and customer focus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain multi-user computer systems and coordinate with network admins.
  • Set up admin/service accounts, document systems, tune performance, install software.
  • Develop and monitor allocation policies for computing resources.
  • Configure GPOs, DHCP reservations, patching per STIG; support VMware/VDI.
  • Collaborate across teams to update and maintain enterprise servers/workstations.

Who We Are

The Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) Systems Administrator oversees the administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity protection of all Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) client and server systems that support enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services within the NITE.

What You Will Do
  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
  • Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Work in close coordination with other team members and departments to update, monitor and maintain servers and workstations used throughout the enterprise.
  • Perform Microsoft Windows server administration, manage GPOs, create/modify DHCP reservations, patching and configuring systems in compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
What You Must Have
  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must have Security+ or equivalent certification.
  • Candidate must have experience with Windows desktop operating systems (WIN10 SHB).
  • Candidate must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret security clearance.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently and work within a team.
  • Candidate must have experience digesting and implementing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
  • Candidate must have experience with patching Microsoft servers and workstations.
  • Candidate must have experience with VMware.
  • Candidate must have familiarity with VDI technologies and protocols.
  • Candidate must have strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Candidate must have the ability to read and digest technical information.
  • Candidate must have strong attention to detail.
  • Candidate must have strong customer focus, the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities.
  • Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Bonus Points For Having!
  • Server Focused highly desired.
  • RedHat desktop operating systems (RHEL 7/8) experience highly desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS or SCCM.
  • Experience with Windows Servers 2016/2019.
  • Linux+ or Microsoft certification preferred.
Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
