Job description

Before we get into the specifics of the role, there are a few things we want you to know:

At the Orlando Magic, our approach is to not only learn as much about you as we can, but for you to learn about us. This is definitely a two-way street, so time with your potential new leader, teammates, and/or other departments that the role will work with is critical. It isn’t just, “what are we looking for”, but also, “what do we have to offer you” and “are we the right fit for you.” While every position is different, our interview process is typically a three-step process, sometimes more depending on the level and nature of the role.

What we offer you:
  • 18 days of personal time off per year + 13 holidays (that is 31 paid days off year!) plus reduced summer work hours (every other Friday off during the off-season, which averages to another 8 days)
  • A hybrid work model, casual work attire on non-game days, staff tickets to Magic home games, learning and development opportunities, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), company sponsored events, volunteer opportunities & outings for every employee
  • Fantastic benefits that include: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company matching, mental wellness resources, subsidized gym memberships, maternity & paternity leave
  • Culture built on Community, Innovation, Legendary and Teamwork!
A quick summary about the Systems Administrator role:

The Systems Administrator role is a hands‑on infrastructure role focused on keeping enterprise systems secure, stable, and highly available across servers, storage, networking, identity, and cloud services. You will own alerts, incidents, and projects end to end, including troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, documentation, and disaster recovery readiness. The role supports a 24/7 environment with Tier 2/3 support, on‑call duties, and occasional after‑hours work. Occasional coverage of Tier 1/2 Helpdesk will be required as a backup to other staff.

Success in the role means delivering stable and secure systems, reducing operational risk, improving visibility and documentation, and driving meaningful modernization and resiliency improvements.

What the Systems Administrator will do:
  • Administer and maintain enterprise systems and infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, storage, network equipment, identity services, enterprise applications, and endpoint environments
  • Ensure systems are secure, patched, optimized, highly available, and properly managed through full lifecycle ownership including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning
  • Own continuous monitoring across infrastructure, SaaS platforms, and dependencies by responding to alerts, correlating incidents to root cause, and improving visibility through reduction of monitoring noise and gaps in ownership
  • Administer backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including validating backup integrity and executing recurring restoration and failover testing to ensure operational readiness
  • Lead and execute infrastructure modernization, optimization, resiliency, security, and compliance initiatives with clear ownership, accountability, defined outcomes, and measurable results
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, legacy dependencies, and operational risk through standardization of systems, workflows, and documentation
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure and escalated issues, serve as backup for Tier 1 support, and maintain system stability in a 24/7 production environment through on‑call coverage and after‑hours support
  • Configure, update, and audit domain services, network infrastructure (including VLANs, routing/switching), cloud networking, monitoring platforms, security tooling, and hyperscaler environments to ensure performance, connectivity, and compliance
  • Manage and support email security, gateway configurations, and delivery reliability across enterprise messaging systems
  • Support remote connectivity and secure access solutions, including SASE or equivalent technologies
  • Partner with security teams to participate in regular security and compliance reviews and remediation activities
  • Work independently and collaboratively to manage competing priorities, partner with vendors and third‑party providers, and maintain accurate, actionable documentation for systems and processes
  • Deliver projects with full ownership and accountability, ensuring issues are fully resolved and not prematurely closed, with measurable improvements to systems and operations
  • All other duties as assigned.
What the Systems Administrator Needs to Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related field is required and five+ (5+) years in systems administration or infrastructure support required
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid environments, including multi‑tenant or multi‑organization environments is required
  • Strong background and proven experience in:
    • Server administration (Windows)
    • Virtualization and storage infrastructure
    • Backup and disaster recovery
    • Identity and access management
    • M365 services: Exchange, Azure, EntraID, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing/switching, firewalls, wireless, cloud networking)
    • Domain services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, authentication services)
    • Monitoring and alerting platforms and tools
    • Security tooling including EDR/XDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, and privileged access management
    • Email security and gateway configurations
    • Remote access and SASE technologies or equivalent solutions
  • Strong working knowledge of Mac OS and Linux preferred
  • Project Management and ITIL exposure (Incident, Problem, and Change Management) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self‑directed and demonstrate initiative.
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision‑making skills.
