Job summary

SAIC is actively seeking a Systems Administrator to support DoD mission systems for the US Marine Corps in Hanahan, SC. The role is 100% onsite and focuses on designing, testing, and integrating systems to enhance performance and reliability of the BFT System.

The ideal candidate has strong virtualization, Linux/Windows Server, and networking expertise, including Cisco infrastructure, with an active Secret clearance desired. Collaboration with cybersecurity and network teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of related work experience.
• Strong virtualization, design, integration and testing in complex DoD environments.
• Solid networking knowledge including TCP/IP, firewalls, Cisco routers and switches.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix, Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Familiarity with Open Source Linux distros (RHEL, Rocky, AlmaLinux).

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the test environment: servers, end-user systems, operating systems and core IT infrastructure; define architecture and workflows per customer requirements.
• Develop and execute system test plans, integration procedures and documentation to verify requirements and adhere to DoD standards.
• Install, configure and maintain physical and virtual servers and network switches (Cisco).
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues and propose corrective actions to address performance gaps.
• Collaborate with network engineers, software developers and cybersecurity professionals for seamless system functionality.
• Plan and test data backups and disaster recovery protocols.
• Provide systems engineering support for development, integration, testing and sustainment of the BFT System.

Description

SAIC is seeking a highly motivated, forward thinking and experienced Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the United States Marine Corps in Hanahan, SC. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise to design, develop, test and integrate systems that enhance the performance and reliability of the current and future BFT System. This role requires strong analytical skills, collaborative teamwork, and a deep understanding of system engineering standards and practices in support of Department of Defense (DoD) mission systems.

This role is 100% onsite.

Job Duties:

• Manage and maintain the current Test Environment consisting of servers, end user systems, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure by conducting detailed systems analysis to define system design architecture, specifications and operational workflows aligned with customer requirements.
• Develop and execute system test plans, integration procedures, and documentation to verify functional and performance requirements ensuring adherence to DoD standards and best practices.
• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers/machines and network switches, specifically Cisco configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues and recommend corrective actions to address performance gaps.
• Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams (network engineers, software developers, cybersecurity professionals) to ensure seamless system functionality.
• Plan and test data backups and disaster recovery protocols.
• Provide systems engineering support for the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of the BFT System.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelors and two (2) years or more work experience; four (4) years of additional work experience in lieu of degree.
• Strong experience with virtualization, systems design, analysis, integration and testing in complex operational environments.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communication concepts such as TCP/IP, firewalls, routers (specifically Cisco) and switches.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix, Windows Server, Active Directory and virtualization tools specifically VMware and Vsphere/ESXi.
• Familiarity and understanding of Open Source and Subscription Linux Distros including RHEL, Rockey, Alma among others.

Required Clearance:

• An active Secret clearance is required prior to starting.

Desired Qualifications:

• CompTIA Security+ is strongly desired.
• Knowledge of the BFT System with JBC-P, MMC or Spectre Software and TAK, TCS and/or CHE.
• Familiarity with the DoD and Contracting environment.
