Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the United States Marine Corps in Hanahan, SC. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing and integrating systems for the BFT System in a DoD mission environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong virtualization, networking, and system engineering skills, with experience in Linux/Unix, Windows Server, VMware, Cisco networking and open source distros. Active Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of work experience or 4+ years of additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Strong virtualization, systems design, analysis, integration and testing in complex operational environments.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, Cisco routers/switches).
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix, Windows Server, Active Directory and virtualization tools (VMware vSphere/ESXi).
• Familiarity with Open Source Linux distros including RHEL, Rocky, Alma.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the test environment consisting of servers, end user systems, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure.
• Develop and execute system test plans, integration procedures, and documentation to verify requirements.
• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers and Cisco switches.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with network, software, and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless system functionality.
• Plan and test data backups and disaster recovery protocols.
• Provide systems engineering support for development, integration, testing, and sustainment of the BFT System.

Description

SAIC is seeking a highly motivated, forward thinking and experienced Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the United States Marine Corps in Hanahan, SC. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise to design, develop, test and integrate systems that enhance the performance and reliability of the current and future BFT System. This role requires strong analytical skills, collaborative teamwork, and a deep understanding of system engineering standards and practices in support of Department of Defense (DoD) mission systems.

This role is 100% onsite.

Job Duties:

• Manage and maintain the current Test Environment consisting of servers, end user systems, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure by conducting detailed systems analysis to define system design architecture, specifications and operational workflows aligned with customer requirements.
• Develop and execute system test plans, integration procedures, and documentation to verify functional and performance requirements ensuring adherence to DoD standards and best practices.
• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers/machines and network switches, specifically Cisco configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues and recommend corrective actions to address performance gaps.
• Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams (network engineers, software developers, cybersecurity professionals) to ensure seamless system functionality.
• Plan and test data backups and disaster recovery protocols.
• Provide systems engineering support for the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of the BFT System.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelors and two (2) years or more work experience; four (4) years of additional work experience in lieu of degree
• Strong experience with virtualization, systems design, analysis, integration and testing in complex operational environments.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communication concepts such as TCP/IP, firewalls, routers (specifically Cisco) and switches.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix, Windows Server, Active Directory and virtualization tools specifically VMware and Vsphere/ESXi.
• Familiarity and understanding of Open Source and Subscription Linux Distros including RHEL, Rockey, Alma among others.

Required Clearance:

• An active Secret clearance is required prior to starting

Desired Qualifications:

• CompTIA Security+ is strongly desired.
• Knowledge of the BFT System with JBC-P, MMC or Spectre Software and TAK, TCS and/or CHE.
• Familiarity with the DoD and Contracting environment.
