Job summary

SMS Data Products Group, Inc. seeks an Intermediate NOSC Technician/Network Administrator to monitor large-scale operations under a DoD contract. Responsibilities cover 24x7 NOSC support, incident management, and coordination with government partners to maintain secure DTRA IT services.

You will work on real-time infrastructure health, triage outages, and provide application support across DTRA offices. Must have TS/SCI clearance and Security+ certification, with experience in network operations

Qualifications

  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent prior to start.
  • 4-8 years of prior experience in network operations, help desk, or IT support; degree may be substituted.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to coordinate with government partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support NOSC for the Agency on a 24x7x365 basis, maintaining real-time situational awareness of DTRA IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor, manage, troubleshoot, patch, and communicate health of DTRA IT Server, Storage, and Network infrastructure.
  • Provide day-to-day system administration and ensure reliable, secure IT services for DTRA.
  • Triage degradations and outages, escalate as needed, and drive resolution.
  • Engage vendors, DoD, and government agencies; open incident tickets and provide data for triage.
  • Draft emails for critical network events within SOP timelines.
  • Provide application support to DTRA offices per SLA; create incident tickets in ServiceNow.
  • Support Tier I-III personnel in network/system issues; oversee global network monitoring with DoD tools (SolarWinds).
  • Develop and enforce operational procedures, escalation protocols, and incident response workflows.
  • Interface with Mission Partners, DISA, Joint Forces, and Combatant Commands on status and impact.
  • Prepare and deliver operational briefs, AARs, and executive summaries.

Job description

SMS is seeking an Intermediate NOSC (Network Operations and Security Center) Technician/Network Administrator to support monitoring large-scale operations on a high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA's internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) for the Agency on a 24x7x365 basis, in accordance with requirements for a Defense Threat Reduction Agency NOSC and appropriate DoD Directives. Included in this objective, you will maintain real-time situational awareness of the DTRA IT Infrastructure and supported environments; shall lead restorative actions to ensure all networks, servers, network devices, and services remain operational and available.
  • Monitor, manage, troubleshoot, fix/repair, install security patches, and communicate the health of the DTRA IT Server, Storage, and Network infrastructures to ensure continuous, secure, and efficient access to all DTRA partners.
  • Provide the full range of support services required to manage the day-to-day operations and systems administration of the DTRA IT computing environment, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient availability of the current and evolving DTRA IT services and capabilities.
  • Triage degradations and outages by isolating the issue, performing troubleshooting and remediation steps, escalating as needed, and following through to resolution.
  • Report and conduct triage with vendors, DoD, and Government agencies; which includes opening incident tickets with these organizations and providing critical data for triage.
  • Draft and send emails for initial, updated, and resolved critical network events while adhering to established timelines for notification of critical network events and established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide application support to various DTRA offices as designated in Service Level Agreements (SLA) with those offices.
  • Create incident tickets, change requests, and tasks in ServiceNow.
  • Support Tier I-III system, networking, and engineering personnel to ensure network troubleshooting efforts.
  • Oversee real-time monitoring of global enterprise networks using DoD-approved tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
  • Develop and enforce operational procedures, incident response workflows, and escalation protocols.
  • Interface with Mission Partners, DISA, Joint Forces, and Combatant Commands on network status, issues, and operational impacts.
  • Prepare and deliver operational briefs, after-action reports (AARs), and executive summaries to senior leadership.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or escalation technical issues based on ticket assignments, deskside or remotely, as necessary.
  • Correlate events and incidents for management of IT Services.
  • Provide prompt and friendly customer service to all DTRA personnel.
  • Document and communicate degradation of services or outage issues to customers and help with resolution.
  • Follow ITSM and ITIL processes to ensure quality of services and prompt resolution.
  • SHIFT WORK: The position we have open is for working days (0600-1800) the beginning of the week (Every Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday).

Required Qualifications
  • 4-8 years of prior experience or Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of prior experience in network operations, help desk, or IT support role. Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be a U.S. citizenship and hold an active DoD TS/SCI at time of consideration.
  • Must possess an active CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent prior to start.
Desired Qualifications
  • Oral and written communication for change procedures, and management updates at all levels of government and contractor leadership.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds or similar).
  • Experience with ServiceNow Ticket system.
  • Proficient in Active Directory and managing user accounts and security groups.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and network protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-availability, fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
